I can say for sure, this is not gonna work... its just too much trouble, and if it really happen, people who seldom visit CS will complaint, making all the complaint endless.Maybe what we can do as members is to round down our bank account each week to the nearest dollar, by transferring those extra cents to a kitty for CS.
Even if its 99 cents for a week, it costs us only approx $52.
If its 1 cent each week, then its only $0.52
With the number of members here, we could probably get one of the people here elected to MP for the next election, that is, if we can ever agree on the candidate, the mandate, or even the platform, in the first place.
However, its good to hear all views, even the not so popular ones.
Well at least it keeps such organisers out... - http://forum.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=252694

Think the thread was annhiliated... :bsmilie:
The thread was asking for people to email the org at a certain email address to be entered into a mailing list for future updates by the org for model shoots. :bsmilie:
She doesn't want to pay :bsmilie:

i believe its a good system to deter people from making a quick buck. but its the pricing most people who are concerned with.
Whether to charge for using the site to promote the shoots is the prerogative of the site administration. However, I am most unhappy about the administration's move without notification to the general "populace" of CS.
If the admins thinks it is fit to charge organisers for posting announcement of their shoots on CS, so be it. Similarly, I think members have equal rights not to post any pics from such shoots unless CS pays for them, lousy as they may be. So whilst I am willing to pay towards the organisers cost of having to advertise their shoots at the same time I think every particpant has the right to withhold posting pics from such shoots on CS (after all it is their IP) and post them somewhere else, unless CS is willing to pay for the pics since it has now become a commercial issue.
As such, I propose those against CS changing their position from a website promoting photography for all to an income generating organisation should also withhold posting their pics on CS.
Thank you, and in case I am barred after this post, goodbye.
why dun CS post their running cost and how its being finanice...
then people can decide whether to invest in future organized shoot here...

I don't see anything wrong with charging. We can't expect things to be free all the time. If you just want to share the cost of the shoot and not making any money out of it, why can't the cost of advertising be part of your cost to be shared? You pay the studio, MUA, model, why can't you pay for advertising?
My biggest problem is that portrait photgraphers are asked to take an unequal share of the burden. Nearly all, if not 100%, of the shoots and workshops are portraiture oriented. IS THAT FAIR?
My second biggest problem is, as you said, "...why can't you pay for advertising?" Ofcourse, I can, or have to. But for the occasional organiser, of first and last time organiser, is the cost justified? I heard something like $75/month. Can I fully expect to add that onto the one and only shoot I am organising?
Back to those joining model shoots, for the prolific organisers, the cost is probably justifiable, and they may actually be able to bare the cost. For those organising now and then, they will diasppear. Do we want that to happen?
.... why can't you pay for advertising?
Yes, you can.
And we should also ask those who advertise in the buying and selling subforum to pay for advertising.
