Having Fun with Shooting Film

just a quick question... my 1st roll of film (Kodak Gold 200) came out and some looked really muted in colours... (sorry forgot to ask developer to scan so i can't really show you).

is this an issue with the development, the film, the lens (either k55 or vivitar28cf) or anything else?

Here's my first roll on film. I also use Kodak Gold 200 and vivitar28cf on MZ-5n, no white balance correcting filter, with built-in flash. It's developed and scanned at Gracelab sunsetway.

Color mute could be because of:
1. expired film
2. expired developer
3. under exposed
4. scanned without good settings

where did you develop and scan your negative?

btw, if the negative's not scanned, how did you tell whether the colours is muted?

Bought a roll of Kodak Ektar 100 film from Cathay. Turned out to be very good for scanning. Unlike Kodak Gold.
Sent to AMK Pacific Colour opposite the MacDonalds (in park).

Tried out on the PENTAX ME Super and the Ricoh Rikenon XR 50mm F2. Trying to get an old feel, and the lens again was not bad at all.

Shooting mostly wide open at F2. I screwed up a few because the nearest focus distance is 1.5m, but I shot closer than that.
The blurr out of some areas look like shift lens. Not bad for an old 50mm.

I'm looking at the prints and that's what i noticed...

the actual physical prints are muted in colour for most...

negatives were developed at Kim Tian Colour Centre near Fei Fei...

expired developer? heh!

i know i am raising an issue in vacuo being unable to show you the pics so it makes it hard for me to get a good answer... my bad.

What film you used?
Let's have an informal LX outing soon.

It is Fuji Acros 100 film.
Lx outing? Good idea or else can just simply bring it to Pentax outing :D.

very nice picture! and you have a very rare M40mm!

It's not that rare actually.

Although less sharp than M 50 1.7, but it's really compact so I can bring them inside my bag everyday ;)

i never did fine one here or on evilbay :-(

i hear the DA40 is optically the same design but without an aperture ring i am kinda limited on a SLR... do u still have a spare MX lying around? :-)

I think DA40 is much superior than M40. Afterall it's a Limited lens.

Nope, I dun have spare MX. Only 1 black and 1 chrome :bsmilie:
