[Hak] Exploring Singapore

Happy 2015 Singapore!

At first I wasn't sure if MBS was going to light up, which would have made the composition more lopsided, so I was pretty happy when it lit up eventually. I took quite some time to post process as this is a panoramic shot plus a few layers of fireworks blended together. Glad it turned out better than I expected!

Bay Lights

Taken last year (3 days ago). I wasn't able to make it for blue hour, but I managed to rush up in time for the MBS light show. I was hoping that the SG50 wishing spheres were going to be lit up with the white light, but it was green at that time, no idea why they wanted that colour.

The glow amidst the dark clouds earlier this evening.

Blue hour shot at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. If only they turned on the lights at the left side as well.

Hi! Great shot of the fireworks. May I know how do u post process & remove the smoke from the fireworks?

Cancelled my shooting plans because it was still pouring at 6pm, but when I left office shortly after, I regretted instantly because I could see that there was going to be a nice sunset / rainbow. One thing bad about living and working near the airport is that there's no tall HDBs nearby that I can go up to for a last minute shoot with a nice view. It was still raining when I took out my camera to shoot this and I forgot to switch to AF.

Taken handheld (one hand for camera, one hand for umbrella)

To include many fireworks shots together in one photo, you can stack the different photos together in photoshop as layers, and set the layer styles to 'lighten', it's pretty easy actually if you already know the basics. As for the smoke, this time I didn't do much to remove it. Firstly, I chose only the cleaner shots that I had to include in the final photo. For those shots that still had some smoke, I will use the masking tool in photoshop and 'erase' off the smokier areas.

Hope this brief explanation helps! It would be a really long post if I were to explain it in details. :)

Colour Burst

A gloomy morning in Pulau Ubin came alive when the clouds turned red for a brief moment. When I set up for this shot, my tripod was actually in the water. My original intention was to include more water in the foreground, but I didn't realise that the tide had retreated so quickly.

Deep Blue Sea

The blue hour after the rain yesterday was really beautiful.

Esplanade Bridge

Made a mistake while shooting this panoramic shot, which resulted in more time and effort required on the computer during post processing to stitch the photos together properly.

Iridescence

Spotted this rare phenomenon while on the train this evening, and immediately alighted to find a clearer view for a shot.

Very interesting shot. Saw some iPhone shots of this which were nowhere as close in colours!

River Crossing

After multiple failed attempts for sunrise at this location, I finally have a decent one last Saturday morning.

This was at Eunos. I think this could be seen from most parts of Singapore. :)
