Monochrome City
I've shot here countless times before, whether it's morning, afternoon, evening or night. I was here again on Saturday morning, and this time I decided to process it as a monochrome image.

Wishing all of you a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year!

Here's one from last night's fireworks at the River Hongbao. I decided to attempt to shoot from a spot away from the tons of photographers present at the floating platform. This was a challenging one that required stitching to form the panorama. Glad that it didn't give me much problems in the end. The bright light on the right of the fireworks isn't the moon, but a spotlight.

Hi quailmaster, I explained to someone else in a previous post. You can take a look at it below. But the best way is to make sure you capture the first few fireworks burst correctly, because those are the clean ones that are smoke free.

To include many fireworks shots together in one photo, you can stack the different photos together in photoshop as layers, and set the layer styles to 'lighten', it's pretty easy actually if you already know the basics. As for the smoke, this time I didn't do much to remove it. Firstly, I chose only the cleaner shots that I had to include in the final photo. For those shots that still had some smoke, I will use the masking tool in photoshop and 'erase' off the smokier areas.

Hope this brief explanation helps! It would be a really long post if I were to explain it in details. :)

Changi Beach at Dawn

This was taken before sunrise, before the tide level quickly rose and submerged all my potential foregrounds.

For the fireworks itself, I usually use somewhere around F8-F11, 4-5secs, ISO100. But I do also blend in the foreground or background.

Nice shot :) Were you on the Singapore Flyer? is tripod allowed?

Thanks.

Bay Lights

Taken last year (3 days ago). I wasn't able to make it for blue hour, but I managed to rush up in time for the MBS light show. I was hoping that the SG50 wishing spheres were going to be lit up with the white light, but it was green at that time, no idea why they wanted that colour.

Yup, this was taken on the flyer. Tripod is allowed, but try not to obstruct other people in the same cabin. I used a clamp instead.

Thx for sharing but for 4-5 sec, do u time the shutter just when they fire off?
Or do u recommend 1-2 sec just before they burst? Thx again

I'll press the shutter when I see the fireworks being launched, before they burst in the air.
