Terence,

You visit PN right? There was a guy called Jay, remember?

I do visit PN but don't hang around the forums much but I have a feeling I know what you mean.

How are the 220 rolls working out?

Frankly I do not care a S**T about how you or anyone think of me.

I write on points and reasonings.

I do not know you are and I do not care a damn. And if you want me to confirm your status, I will gladly do so. But I have already long decided that you are not worth the time I spend writing this post.

But the fact is, your ego still made you type out a reply ya?

You may write on "points and reasonings" but you certainly do so in a way a schoolyard bully would. You call people names, you degrade their mental state and you just demean everything you think that is wrong. I don't really care what transpired in this current discussion with Szekiat or Wisp, it still doesn't warrant your shameful behavior. You seem to pick on a few whom you've deemed to be idiots and you just openly let them have it with your trash talk and rough attitude.

I can't believe someone like you who holds a doctorate can act like such a spoilt brat just to get a point across. There are many ways to skin a cat and you certainly chose the most undesirable method.

Really... do us all a favor and grow up.

And again, feel free to have the last word. I'm sure you will.

Yours very old man, I hope they'll be ok. Waiting for this or next weekend's model shoots to test them out.

Hehe, I did say they were expired. Anyways you got them for a song and a handshake. Maybe I should have saved them for my Holga.

Holga? Don't joke!

By the way, don't waste time trying to change people. Rarely works.

with no sarcasm meant whatsoever, i once again sincerely offer my apologies to all reader for sending this thread completely of course and probably scaring the TS away.
Either hows, i will not respond to the provocations above. Lets just say we are all entitled to our own opinions. Your thought process is different from mine. To say i am illogical would seem to be jumping the gun since even a mad person sees logic in his action, just because the rest of the world does not see it does not make it illogical, but hard to comprehend. A lot of open statements and blind conclusions have been made in the past few weeks (on my part) and i hope to be able to justify them in a fresh thread in the next week or so when work permits me time. Don't get me wrong student, i had a lot of respect for you till you started the name calling. Is it really necessary?

Please! Are you daft or what?

I was trying to give you some credit to a measure of intelligence as a medical student. You may had scored many "As" in your "A" level, but your line of argument is getting more and more idiotic, to use a very gentle description.

For someone who calls those who don't believe in the ZS "pyschotic", I reckon you could apply the above to yourself.

Now the fat's really in the fire..

hi kentay,

i've used a second hand oly rc and canonet G3 QL17 b4, i think u can get them at $100-$200 second hand. they are pretty fun to use and give very good results.

but i have to admit that i would love to try a leica one day.... :)

Having read this and a good number of threads over time,
I have seen many that reply to a question with little or no knowledge on the subject.

To do this is just asking for trouble.

It seems that some don’t realise that there are a number of professional/ well heeled/ well studied, photographers in CS.

These people assume that a thread started by someone asking a question,
will only be read by amateurs and as such, non qualified answers will make them look good.

How totally dumb !!!

There are a number of “professional in my words” members that reply to many questions in the forums and actually try to give some assistance.

These people don’t state they are professional and would shun from the idea of being called professionals. Yet they offer assistance.

Now when some idiot comes in with words and explanations that they know nothing about in the real world, gets slammed; what does this idiot expect !!!

Wake up people !

This is not a club where we all go….. my d**k is bigger than yours !

This is where we meet to discuss and share photography.

For those that do not have a degree/ life-long/ professional existence in photography, remember that HERE you can learn from people that do.

Trying to get back on topic...

I'm thinking about getting started in RFs as well. There are the obvious Yashica Electro 35, Olympus XA...Canon G3 QL17, Konica Auto S2 etc. But I ran into a page on rather small RFs such as the Petri 7s and the Petri Color 35. Anyone had any experience with these or heard anything about them?

They don't have any autoexposure functions, so they'll be a bit harder to work. But the allure of this camera is definitely there...not often heard of, seems to be well constructed and is selling for next to nothing on Ebay.

i don't think the petri color 35 is selling for next to nothing on ebay. if it is in mint working condition AND selling for next to nothing, grab it!

Perhaps I'm missing something but the Petri 7s seems to better the Color 35 in terms of features...shutter speed range, for example, although the difference is not great.

If they're truly worth as much as you say then they're definitely worth watching! Just hope the will function as a workhorse as well and not just a cute display item.

.

That's right. They risked being called a "fool", a "f***head", "as*****" and "p*s**d". Add to that, some of the knowledgeable ones "would not give a damn who they are or what they think".

Strong point your got there.

pablo, your post seems rather ambiguous. your point is?

If you claim that most of the posters to this thread have no working experience photographically, i think u will be greatly mistaken. A few have probably done solo exhibits and have an extensive clientele to prove their worth. As you mention, these ppl prefer not to flaunt it too openly.

Could I ask you whether you belong to this class as well? You're pretty much aggravating the situation.

the Petri 7s is better in terms of shutter speed range, but is also larger and 50% heavier than the Petri color 35. Depends which camera features are more important to you.

Thanks. The Color 35 is really cute, though there's probably only one on Ebay now that I can chase down. I'm currently hunting for a 7s with the f/1.8 lens...might be a fun one to use. Seems that it doesn't even need batteries to function.

I remember him! Jay was better cos Jay makes much more sense, and to be honest, he knows his Leica stuff very well :)

He's banned from PN already right?

to the original poster:

my recommendation would be a Voigtlander R2A or R3A to step into the RF world, or the new Zeiss Ikon if u have a little more cash to spare. All of these are relatively modern bodies with aperture priority metering for you to ease into the world of manual-everything, and u can still choose to use manual metering if you so desire.

Alternatively, you can get a Leica M and never look back :)

The best camera is the one you always have with u.
