OT abit

But Heard relatively problematic issues with Sigma AF 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX HSM DG like heaving vignetting at larger apertures and lateral CA/prone to flares issues.

For me I try not to place objects with a need for obvious defining edges at the far ends of the 12mm

Here is a negative example shot at 12mm at f16, nothing done to pic except resizing and / or cropping in PS. No need peeping can tell how poor the corners.

I dun really pixel peep but here are the corners at 100%:

But for the price i got for this widest zoom, I would think it is still pretty fun to work with

Lateral CA can be corrected to an extent by the camera. ;p Flares, just have to take care when there are light sources shining into the lens. I think all UWA lenses would be prone to flares though some may be worse than others. I've not noticed much flares in the pictures I shoot with this lens though but might be due to the way I shoot.

Vignetting... yeah.. you could already see some in the corners in the pic. ;p There is also quite visible light fall-off.

i think nth much to whine for, as its seems the best value for money FX wide angle given its price/value ratio is pretty high based on quite a no. of positive feedbacks frm users in some forums. :) i still wish to try 14-24mm f2.8 oneday though.. ;p

Agreed Ryan, Wide angles are really fun to use, esp those ultra wide ones.

But the far corners are pretty fuzzy and bad at f16 as compared to my 17-35 shot at wide open.

The price tag of the lens is fairly moderate in relation to what you get. Its give the 14-24 a bang for its bucks. :)

Yup it's a new, i got it from Cathay.

2 lenses in my wishlist are 14-24/2.8 and 24-70/2.8. ;p
