I am keen in 5700 or 5800 but appreciate if anyone can share the pros n cons of this camera

i think this model has been discontinued. S5800 is the latest one. (though it is also an old model.) if u dun mind 2nd hand, perhaps u can still S5700 in the marketplace here. if not, u will have to settle for S5800.

Do take note of the pros and cons of this camera. Hope u can join this small family soon. :)

Pros:

1) For outdoor or day shots, its picture quality is very good.
2) Its macro shots are very good and can get as close to 1cm.
3) It allows optical zoom in video mode.
4) Due to its unprotuding lens, it is less prone to dust.
5) Side handle is big and comfortable to hold.
6) 10x zoom at a low price.
7) Accepts xd/sd cards.
8) Noise control is relatively good despite lack of SuperCCD.

Cons:

1) Purple fringing appears at high contrast areas.
2) Lack of SuperCCD => nite shots not as good as F31fd.
3) No image stabilization.
4) Usable ISO is no more than 400 => noisy pics after ISO400.
5) Shot to shot is abit lag.
6) Shutter speed range abit short => 4 sec - 1/1000 sec
7) Its wide end is abit tight => 38mm - 380mm.
8) No battery indicator on lcd screen.

I must say that this camera is quite value for money considering its low price while having almost the same controls like an entry level DSLR.

PS: sorry for so long-winded.

up for this camera.

Colour quality is very good when u couple it with a polariser.
Good macro.

Dun like the purple fringing.
Dun like the shutter speed.

no, nt at all..... u gave a very gd explanation but may i noe if the s5700 support external lens? million thanks for answering my previous question :)

by right, there shldn't be any external lens for S5700 as Fuji website didn't state; but by left, when u go do a search on ebay, they are some 3rd party add-on lens for S5700 (wide angle & telephoto).

However, do note that these 3rd party lens may cause (i suppose so) a decrease in pic quality. ie. for wide angle lens, the corners of the pic may be abit soft and tall buildings at the corners of the pic may turn out to be abit not straight.

paisei for my lousy english, hope u can understand. :embrass:

I got S5800 le ^o^ even though the place I went to sell S5700 too ^^

I got mine for $429 from South Asia Computer pte ltd. Set consist of the camera, batteries and charger, 2 gig sd card, camera bag, screen protector and tripod. It was actually the first shop I went to ^^'' seems like an impulse buy? haha

I like the service of the lady who serve me. She was very paitence to let me try a few cam and I was trying like around 40 mins. I was deciding between canon SX 100IS and Fuji S5800, and also tried canon A750. She's not a shooter but seeing that I cant decide she told me what the two brand are good in and let me try shooting using my own memory card (I use my palm to see the result of both cam). I was glad that she did not push me to get canon as it cost more. One thing she pointed out that assure me of my buy is that a good take depends on the photographer and the usage of function of the camera, choosing of brand is actually to personal preference^^ and I got my Fuji~

Hi guys,

I think my battary life is quite short, think it last around 2 hrs+? Wanna know is this normal or my battary not good haha. How long can your camera last with the given battaries?

u mean the energizer batt that Fuji gave? i nver use them. i use rechargables. esp. eneloop. of course, that depends on ur usage too. use viewfinder more instead of lcd, use less flash if possible etc. will also make ur batt life longer.

once i charged my sanyo 2700mah batteries, ard 2 wks later then put inside the S5700, still got the power to run the cam wor.

okok, does the mah figure matters too? I am given 2000mah batteries, is it shorter life compared to 2700mah?

Thanks hlw8888, you are always the one answering hahaha

2700mah are those that cannot last very long period (like 1 year), but is very useful when for example, providing sufficient power for the external flash on DSLR cos more power.

2000mah are those that can last long and w/o losing alot of power (i.e. Sanyo Eneloop, GP Recyko).

for normal shooting purpose, 2000mah is more than enough to last. unless u use flash for most of the time. if u really use alot of flash for ur fotos, of course the more mAh the better.

thks for the complement. :) but that also means i am a no life person on the Internet. :(

long time not log in this forum already....
anyway here i have some photo share with you all by using S5700:)
