FUJIFILM announces FinePix X100

A camera with no IS, large body (127 × 75 × 54 mm) and no interchangeable lens would find it hard to compete with the latest model of m4/3 or NEX

The best way to compete is a low pricing + brilliant IQ.

ooooohhhh!!! must start saving already!!! :D

i agree with you, especially on no interchangeable lens. think their target customer is not big.

:bsmilie: So you won't buy it. That's fine with the rest of us.

The world must have suffered terribly without IS technology 4 years ago and earlier ............. :bsmilie:

Haha... RF users got built-in IS. We use our legs as tripod. No mirror = minimal handshake.

Hmm..

I think the killer point for the x100 is not really the fact that the lens is interchangeable, thats not the selling point of this camera.

The fact that the controls in your reach on the camera, you can fully adjust it, aperture ring in front(makes the S90gay), fully in your reach to adjust. Compared to the cameras of today, gotta scroll through a A380 panel of buttons to get to settings...........

A quick switch on the speed dials, you are sorted. Not trying to be funny but as for IS? Erm, cameras 50 years ago worked perfect without IS, dont see why that should be a selling point. Unless photographers these days have mild parkinson.

Then again, if it had interchangeable lenses & if there is a capability for adapters to mount other mount lenses, the competition is sweeped by the X100, Sony & the M4/3 guys have to really sweat their nuts to pull of something fast before they lose market share.

Perfect for me :P LOL!
Perfect for me as well bro.

I was initially thinking of the M8 or a Ricoh GRDIII or Canon G11 at the year end to be my first digital camera but damn, the X100 just blew the rest away! heehee.....

Yep, sort of. takes after the chrome & black leather styling of the M3?

But the lens seems more pancake on the X100.

The farmeline lever on the X100 changes the VF from optical to electronic, si beh cool lei!

Agree. This is groundbreaking.
Also looking forward to the film simulation (as hinted in their press release).

hellooo beautiful... this must rank top in the looks dept compared to ep1, nex5, gf1 and even x1 imho.

I don't see why a fast 35mm equivalent lens would need IS.

Nice camera though :)

I can already imagine the X100 with nice half case, oozing sex appeal!

Guys, u must check out the videos posted by Gary. Some nice photos there!!! Nice smooth bokeh and color rendering is quite fine.
