Fuji X-M1

I've found my answer.. thanks! Also, I'm a proud owner of a new XM1 kit. Very nice build. Bought the black version instead of the silver/black as the shutter button on the silver/black looks poorly spray painted (btw the shutter button is plastic unlike the XE1).

How do you find the focussing .. especially the face detection ..

I found that the AF is quite snappy compared to the xe1 that I used in the shop. Though, I suspect the xe1 doesn't have the new fw, so can't really compare :). Overall, the AF is fast for the 16-50 lens. I've tried the 35 1.4 lens and found that it took a little while to lock focus compared to the 16-50. I read that 35mm does focus a little slow but it's a beautiful lens with a very nice aperture ring with numbers. The build quality of the XM-1 is very good except for that silver shutter button. The camera is smaller than the xe1 and your *pinkie* last finger doesn't have much place to go except to the base of the camera. Very quickly my finger felt tired and uncomfortable. Unlike the XE1 where the ergonomics are better and felt more solid holding it with one hand. Fortunately, the XM1 came with a leather case that added a little bulk to it but made the camera much more comfortable to hold. Overall, XE1 and XM1 are great cameras!

Ah. Sounds nice and i have to agree the XE-1 feels better. :)

I've not played around with face detection yet , so I can't give a definitive answer. Abt the 16-50, it doesn't feel cheap and the zoom is tight enuf not to have any creep. Compared to the 18-55, the 16-50 have a slightly plasticky feel but definitely not bad! IQ is really quite good plus you have the 24mm focal length which is a bonus. It's a little slower on the aperture side but that's fine for casual family shots. Great price and camera! If you don't mind not having a viewfinder.

Just bought mine today...is it just me or that i find the body a bit flimsy. I find the area around the battery compartment side is a bit hollow and can be depressed slightly when press in the direction below. Can fellow X-M1 owner help to verify ? Or maybe its just i suay... ?

Now that I see your pic, it's normal. Same as mine. Due to the size of the battery, the plastic body and the flip screen, there isn't any room to stiffen that area.

Yeah guess I shouldn't expect the build quality of a x100s haha

Is the leather case available for sale?

wonder if can convert this to IR. lol

wondering how much is the price for body only?

the only thing i like is the focusing peaking !

actually the XE-1 shutter button is plastic too. :bsmilie:

I'm considering to get this, but just want some more user feedback after a month or so of use.
What do you guys like/dislike about this cam?

No replies? You guys not happy with your XM1?

Cons:
No touch screen, accessories hard to get, wifi function abit 'meh'

Everything else is awesome :)
Only used it for 2 weeks, but thats what i feel for now. Most of the review online is quite accurate

why meh? can elaborate? not reliable or?

accessories: for shutter release currently only rr-90 is available (Very bad), limited choices for cases, thumbs up/ shuttle button not available
Wifi: cant use tablet as remote control as display( maybe in the future?)

However the auto-iso works very well, af is fast and accurate(mostly), whole camera feel more responsive, IQ still as amazing, its small, light and come with auto mode even my sister can use. 95% of the time it work well for me but the shutter still abit too loud to be discreet. However if im the only user i might consider waiting for the successor of xe1 that i heard is coming around the corner.
