I saw display set (inside the cabinet) at Gain City Marina Square X-E1 with 18-55 dunni if real or just a mock-up set hehe. Didn't ask also. Only played the demo unit at Cathay Marina Square with 35mm AF speed ok like PEN hunt a bit and tries to hunt from MDF to Infinity I cant find a dark spot to AF also. The IQ of the image is really good and so is the color but the price puts me off SG price is really exp compare to other countries specially HK

Yeah. It is. None of yr frens gg HK? Seems d 35mm kit combo still haf stock. 11k HKD though. Still cheaper than sg.

Yes. One year.

i'm going HK at Dec and will pick up the 18-55 and 14mm if both available.

Those who got their XE1, do you shoot in JPG or RAW? I'm having issues getting the RAW files to open in my MAC OSX using the Silkypix, it seems very slow to the point of getting hanged. Is there any good software for viewing raw and doing conversion?

I totally refrain from RAW for now... OOC Jpegs are awesome anyway...

I shoot RAW and manage the files in LR. It's a tad slower compared to RAW files from the other cameras I have used, but isn't too bad really.

Anyone using the 18mm with X-E1? Read that it isnt really as sharp as the 35mm, but does focus faster.

I am planning on getting the 18mm for my year end trip to Italy with my family. I originally wanted to bring my DSLR and use my X-E1 as a spare camera, but after hearing so much about pickpockets and snatch thieves in Italy, I am a little apprehensive about taking too much gear there. I've more or less decided on taking my X-E1 as it is less conspicuous, but now I need a wide angle for landscape and indoor shots. Any bros can share their experience with the 18mm?

Hopefully the new 14mm and 18-55 will be released before I leave. That way I have more choices.

Did some shots a week back between the X-E1 and the Leica M9, guest starring the D600.

Shot using the D600.

Guess which is which .. EXIF stripped but should be easy for the pros to identify.

I am also planning for a year end trip to Italy and will be bringing my X-E1 and my Hasselblad film MF (for B&W). For the X-E1 I will bring my 35mm 1.4 and wait for the 14mm.

Very tempted to buy 18mm but since 14mm could be released anytime soon I'd rather wait. My friend has a copy of the 18mm and it is noticeably soft only when shot wide opened. If I shoot it in Italy I will stop down to f5.6 to f8 for scenery and landscape so results should be more than acceptable.

Of course, if the 14mm is released in time for the trip then even better.

Woo .. Pics looks good!

If the 14mm isn't out before your trip, are you just gonna take only the 35?

I will either borrow my friend's 18mm or just buy one. Good enough for what I shoot for the trip.

The 14mm should be in pretty soon .. I got my friend in the States to pre-order it last month together with the 18-55 zoom. He got an email stating that the lens will be in by the end of the week .. so SG shouldn't be that far behind.
