A very simple question... if you make money will this happen?

You blame the authority when you loose money....

if it works gahmen take credit for doing it right, but when things get messy ...?

"sorry loh..."

U are also right. How come I never think of it.

Right or wrong, you decide. At the end of the end, you want to make more money yet you end up loosing all... why?

I heard one old couple lost $1,000,000. One month before Lehnam went down.

I do wish to side anybody. But imagine if you are the boss and your cost of running has increased by 40%... how much will you charge your customers?

so these bosses employ lower cost foreign workers? they got less commitment elsewhere, more hardworking (in their eyez) & less likely to job hop. every boss dream.

*speaking matter of factly...:embrass:

I don't know whether they had taken too much from us.

Any reference?

We have more than half a million foreign workers in Singpore. Without them, our economy will be greatly affected.

back to topic from 1st post.

cost is not just about $$, there are other costs that even though less obvious, are cost non the less.

Companies maybe closing down. So the first to go will be the foreign workers including professional etc.

So let the local do the unpolular work!

unpopular things needs rebranding exercise? that must be the catalyst for retail & service sector jobs. but other then image, remunerations may be the underlying issue for most locals.

I think the emplyers are prepared to pay if you have the skill and atti....

They would consider you as an asset.

Sometime...paying more is also not the answer or it should never be the main motivation. Paying more with locals also does not mean a change in mentality and attitude for the better. It is not sometime so much employers does not want to pay more or spend more to employ or retain a local and thus be loyal to our own folks but if you have a rude disposition or some other negative mentality about them ...how you want to keep that someone especially if in the service, front line or sale industry for example.

is there no grain of truth?

i am not advocating a protectionist stance, but most rank & file staffers are not "living-it-up" with their current wages. sometimes politics:devil: at work decides who stays, who goes.

well as I mentioned in another thread. We can't always change the things happening around us but we can change one thing for sure and that is we ourselves. Know the game, play by it, play by their rules and try to beat it. Life's tough and that's a fact. It could be better but it could be worst too.

We also can't really define what is really "living it up" as each one has their own version of it. I have seen the really poor who deserves a break and I have seen similar who put themselves in that poor house too or stay that way. We would like very much to help everyone but well...in life..some ( or alot of the uninformed) will slip through the crack.

In any case, till something better comes along or a solution can be found to make things "fairer".... there is only one person you can change and change your opinion and direction in your life and that is the one you stare at in the mirror everyday. No use waiting and mopping about. Do something about it. It might take a long while before you succeed but do something.

I am just abit annoyed I guess as I just have been pushing one of my "junior" staff ( if you can call a 44yr man junior store man) to make a change in his life. After a year it all fall on deaf ears and he is living the company at the end of the week and he is a car crash waiting to happen not long from now I am sure. He is not alone. I have tried to mentor others to make something of themselves and to be always moving up, work hard, focus and be willing to learn new things but again this is failing. Hs is not my first but there has been alot. All Singaporean and all not willing to put in abit more. All very quick to blame someone else, all waiting around for a break ( from god to govt to lady luck) I have not given up on others who I will have to nurture but it is a mindset ...a situation I see in many Singaporean. Even some of the hardworking ones...working hard but not working smart. Oh well... I can only care so much about their lives as I have my own but it is sad when you see people wasting away like that and for sure... for sure... they will lost their job not only to some foreign worker....it could be someone younger and Singaporean too.
