Foreign workers...

As long as the policy benefits the majority then it should be OK. Also for long term sake, it is better to have short term pain than long term regret.

sadly, things look better in theory than practice.

work 12hr shift with a miserable salary is not viable for locals, lol.

... but it is viable for foreigners? Does it depend on the passport what is viable?

why should locals accept a miserable salary in a country of many first

Maybe ask some S'porean security guards (who usually have to work 12 hour shifts) about their income.

for some it is. even if they have to put up with less than safe work practises, like sitting in the back of a lorry/pick-up. passport as in nationality? sadly reality seems like so, but the root of the issue is likely the less than cheery economic situation back in their home country.

why need to ask about local security guards income? :dunno: income is just a part of the whole work package ler...

Again. Nobody can give guarantee. Sometimes you gain and sometimes you loose.

The question is do you win or benefit more?

It is a win-win situation. They have nothing to loose.

The SO once was known as watchman(some probably are). They are better paid now. Their monthly income are more than $1500.

why leave things to chance? when someone is hire to do a job, do it well, why give maybes as answers?

some things do have guarantees, even for consumer products under $200. my headphones came with a 2year guarantee. :sweatsm:

$1500 as in? monthly gross, basic pay alone, with OT, before CPF deduction, shift allowance, other allowances like uniform, for good conduct? is it stated in the contract?

U are right. We go for tested brand when we buy a product. We test it and we feel good about it so we buy it. The producer is very confident that their products do not fail and they give you the warranty.

From the advertisement, I gather the income is about $1500/month. Sorry i do not have the details. Would you like enlighten us?

nobody can guarantee? i just pointed 1 good example out, despite being alittle generalisation. hee... :p

for that nice round figure of $1500, i though u had the details, since u brought it up 1st. :p otherwise that nice round figure of $1500 can be very misleading.

U are right. Those advertised were very misleading. I was a bit 'kapoor' and asked one of the security guards his salary... Basic about $500, the rest are all other allowances.. you name it they have it!

in an afluent nation that $500 basic is a measely number. & if i not wrong, if got disagreement with employer, MOM's can do little or next to nothing to fight for other forms of the remunerations not under basic pay. wad more if some forms of remunerations (which make up more than half a month's earnings) are not stated in the contract proper. :hung:

People power... u decide.

Do you suggest the removal of the 1.5 mil foreign workers?

more then 2mil Liao my friend ,fast import to replace locals .

Now many new TB cases since the 70's

Brought to you by your friendly FT

See doctors you foot your own bill

You die your business

Avoid FT living quarters and places FT serving foods

I am out-of-date!

2 mil? Wow what a figure. They are like invading the airport.. how to remove them?

That is fightening....

I think they need to do more check. Our local doctors missed all these sickness or they come from tourists on social visit?

Quoted wrongly when MOM clarified. So question now is should they be removed?

One of the solutions..... any taker?

depends on wad the takers get? SGD$500,000 per head? that excludes pets in tow. :sweatsm:

as long as such 'foreign workers' have a work waiting, otherwise become foreign bums. :sweatsm:
