wrong, its CONSIDERED to be under-paying by locals because they expect a higher standard of living. as i've mentioned somewhere before, if the pay for such jobs at the bottom of the work pyramid(no offense, i'm only refering to amount of workers per category, not skills per se), then the cost of everything else will have to go up in order to maintain margins. Which will lead to an even higher cost of living, more complaints, and then suddenly the "higher pay" is considered underpaying again.

your theory comes to salary ratio out of balance ,this excuse are outdated .

Cost of living or dying are increasing every year as we can feel ,but no increasement of salary .

increment of salary ACROSS THE BOARD is one thing, but to simply increase that of one area, will simply push costs up. haha but ok i don't have a degree in economics or anything similar, so i maybe wrong. :bsmilie:

The problem at Serangoon Gardens had shifted. The authority is given another challenge!

I think army camp will be a good place. It gives out young men a change to tackle the young foreigners...?

Is Singapore unique in the way we let in foreign worker? Don't recall seeing so much in countries like UK, US, Aust. I am refering more to manual job worker.

You have to be joking!! Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it is not there. Just try going to a pub in London, you won't be served by an English person!

Wrong these jobs now are Underpay for locals to tap in .

I agreed with you whole heartedly.

So get the bosses(Singaporeans) to so something... as a boss what will he do? Pay them high so that it eats into his profit?

they pay themself high ,buy big time houses ,change cars like peasants transitting public transports .

then tell ppl they cannot rise salaries for fellow workers ,have to cut cost .

when a gov body get too much involvement in our development ,expect this scenario to happens ,anyway it already did .

Now they playing reversing tactics by selling all our asset or so call privatising ,those companies that bought over somehow linkup with ppl who sold to them .

The recent move selling power stations ,the purpose is they going to install prepaid electricity devices throughout the island .

behold my fellows man .

haha while i do agree, try effecting that change. no one in the world has the political clout to make it happen. the paymaster will never cut his own profits so that his workers can earn more.

It is typical of a boss. the bottom line is profit and answering to the stake holders.

Maybe we should have a legistration to regulate the boss's salary....

Any figure? :dunno:

During nation building, we needs strong and firm leaders who make daring unpolular decisions. It is because of them we have what we call Singapore today.

Time changes. We are more demanding as we are more educated and affluent. We envy the other people lifestyle and forgetting that we come from different background and culture.

Is there any agenda for selling our power stations? Remember we had a couples of cut in fuel supply incidents?

It is a question of survival!

IMO, its not about un/popular decisions. leaders do wadz ultimately good for the nation.

cannot be so much pain, so little gain.

U are right. Ppl were unhappy because of unpopular policies and decisions.

NS was one of them that received a lot of resistance. GST is another one and ERP is another one!

The policies are here to help to grow of the nation and making Singapore a better place to stay. I don't like jam. Just to cross to our neighbour many people endure hours and hours of waiting time.

Do you want Singapore to be like that? Jam, Jam, Jam without butter?

The world is never fair.

The Chinese saying :"The rich left their food rotten yet there are people who die of starvation"

Dont tell me honest mistake lets move on ,hor .

A very simple question... if you make money will this happen?

You blame the authority when you loose money....

GREED is the key word!
