I only see the map but not sure which block I stated really facing the stadium side..

I will check it out definitely before the 29 Jul Preview and let you know here.

One of the shortcoming of shooting from there is that the tall buildings in the background on weekends (Preview) and holidays (National Day) will not be as brightly illuminated as during normal weekdays.

Clockunder, thanks a lot for the info...i think option C not so gd...options A and B are ok.

But i do not have a wide lens.

If it doesn't rain today, I may do a recce in the evening today.

A few likely locations for taking the NDP fireworks at National Stadium, keeping in mind where the fireworks will be facing and the distance between their firing location and photo taking location :

a) Just outside Costa Rhu Condo (waterfront (for nice reflection of the fireworks colours), indoor stadium (partly) and Oasis as foreground).

http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel.php?ismap=1&starmode=0&x=31995.2045741&y=31182.5500463&star=1&iconlist=star1,31995.2045741,31182.5500463;&searchcompany=&searchunitno=&searchblock=130&searchstreetname=Tanjong+Rhu+Road&searchbuildingname=Pebble+Bay&searchpostalcode=436918&searchmasterid=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?158,269

b) At Marina promenade across the river from Costa Rhu Condo (waterfront and Oasis partly as foreground).

http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel.php?ismap=1&starmode=0&x=31782.848555581&y=31568.257916671&star=1&iconlist=star1,31782.848555581,31568.257916671;&searchcompany=&searchunitno=&searchblock=130&searchstreetname=Tanjong+Rhu+Road&searchbuildingname=Pebble+Bay&searchpostalcode=436918&searchmasterid=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?200,291

c) High rise HDB flats at the junction of Old Airport Rd, Mountbatten and Stadium Boulevard (Suntec, Concourse, City tall buildings as background).

http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel.php?ismap=1&starmode=0&x=32649.60781484&y=31509.751666671&star=1&iconlist=star1,31717.841611137,31509.751666671;&searchcompany=&searchunitno=&searchblock=130&searchstreetname=Tanjong+Rhu+Road&searchbuildingname=Pebble+Bay&searchpostalcode=436918&searchmasterid=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?395,129

From the info I gather about the brightness and concentration of high level fireworks in the air, for those with wide angle and cameras with small apertures (F/16 and smaller) , then shooting much nearer such as from around Cosy Bay (just outside Pebbly Bay Condo at Tanjong Rhu) would probably still be ok.

Ok recce results :

a) For Location (a) above = Tanjong Rhu area
Outside Pebble Bay : http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?332,259

dscn0067arx1.jpg

dscn0068ave5.jpg

A bit nearer to Costa Rhu : http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?190,302

dscn0071aso5.jpg

Slightly further towards Costa Rhu : http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?136,275

dscn0072auo7.jpg

b) For location (b) above : Marina promenade opposite Tanjong Rhu

Just outside the sea sport centre : (There is a sand barge (partially seen in the first picture below and obviously in the 2nd picture) blocking the view of the indoor stadium if the shooting location is more towards the right). http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?228,155

dscn0061ace9.jpg

Further down : http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?208,283

Some construction work is going on there on the pedestrain way on the left in the picture.

dscn0064ajc0.jpg

c) For location C : block of flats at junction of Old Airport Rd and Mountbatten Rd

http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel.php?ismap=1&starmode=0&x=33334.347629656&y=32120.816944448&star=1&iconlist=star1,33334.347629656,32120.816944448;&searchcompany=&searchunitno=&searchblock=130&searchstreetname=Tanjong+Rhu+Road&searchbuildingname=Pebble+Bay&searchpostalcode=436918&searchmasterid=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?252,262

The shooting location is singled out in red in the picture : from 12th floor downwards to about 8th-9th floor. The left side, as seen in the picture, is accessible from the lifts on block 7 while the right side can be reached from block 5.

The amount of space is very limited on each floor : probably not more than 3-4 tripods on each side per floor only, meaning probably not more than 6-8 on each floor.

View from the 12th floor accessed from block 5 :

Personally, I prefer to shoot from Tanjong Rhu area because

1) more spacious and not afraid that I will have no place have a good shot.

2) more choices of exact locations for different compositions (foreground + distance and angle of view).

3) easily accessible after shooting the arial display.

4) water reflection of the fireworks colours

5) unblocked view

6) no intrusion into the privacy of the households there.

7) can easily switch to a different location nearby during the fireworks intervals or change angle of view for a slightly different compositions.

I shot from location A.

Gd Recce results but do take note that the fireworks is not exactly over the stadium. Maybe i'll choose location A but how to get there?

But what i mean is any nearest bus stop?

i dunno with all the road diversion and closure, but under normal condition, you probably can take 16 or 608 and stop by the indoor stadium.
Another option is to walk from mounbatten road (14, 10, and many other buses). There's a bus going down fort road as well that might take you closer, but i have no idea which number

Hi guys,

Can I join anybody to the location A? Looks like that is the best the location to take the fireworks. And thanks for the recce effort.

I think on the preview and actual National Day, the roads around the Stadium will be closed to public traffic.

I think bus 158 which stops along Tanjong Rhu Rd and goes all the way to the end of the road (red star in this map : http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?222,305
) may still operate during those days. However, there may be some bus route diversions on its way from Mountbatten area? (not sure).

Everytime firework from national stadium is same angle.:(
