Starts at nine.

But by 6PM you'll see many tripods at the Esplanade Bridge.

By 7PM+ it's gonna be very packed.

That's what I see every year.

So if you are going, I suggest you leave home early, chop space, read book or smth (Bring lantern lamp if u have)

As stated above. I don't think it's worth taking.

I think tomorrow no firework le. We go take night scene ok ?

Anyway, does anyone know a better place than Benjamin Sheares Bridge to take the preview and actual day fireworks and how to get there too cos at BSB, there's vibration from passing vehicles.

This is for the SFF, not for the preview and actual day fireworks for NDP.

Thread title FIREWORKS: Singapore Fireworks Festival 2006 - Esplanade Bay. Thought might be useful info as well not only for NDP fireworks:)

If it doesn't rain today, I may do a recce in the evening today.

A few likely locations for taking the NDP fireworks at National Stadium, keeping in mind where the fireworks will be facing and the distance between their firing location and photo taking location :

a) Just outside Costa Rhu Condo (waterfront (for nice reflection of the fireworks colours), indoor stadium (partly) and Oasis as foreground).

http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?158,269

b) At Marina promenade across the river from Costa Rhu Condo (waterfront and Oasis partly as foreground).

http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?200,291

c) High rise HDB flats at the junction of Old Airport Rd, Mountbatten and Stadium Boulevard (Suntec, Concourse, City tall buildings as background).

http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia...d=64727&searchbuildingid=6736&level=4?395,129

From the info I gather about the brightness and concentration of high level fireworks in the air, for those with wide angle and cameras with small apertures (F/16 and smaller) , then shooting much nearer such as from around Cosy Bay (just outside Pebbly Bay Condo at Tanjong Rhu) would probably still be ok.

i had gone to 2 of your 3 locations to shoot before, personally prefer option b over option c. option c you had to juggle with a small crowd of people (happened to me during ndp) but option b wise, there is lots of space for you on preview, and probably a large crowd across a relatively long area of the waterfront on the actual parade.

option b gives a wider angle of shots at least to me. btw, how do you get to location c, if i do not happen to drive? any tips?

Thanks for the info.

For my camera, fireworks usually don't turn out well if shot from more than 750m. So I've decided to do a last recce to check on the angle of view and how the foreground/background would turn out by taking some trial shots before the 29 July Preview.

For location C (Mountbatten/Old Airport Rd flats), I must admit that it's difficult/troublesome to get there after shooting the arial display around the National Stadium. Maybe shoot Arial Display on Preview day 29 Jul and then shoot fireworks on actual day 9 Aug?

The alternative is to take a taxi and bring along your Mountain/Road Bike to travel around there since the roads around the National Stadium will be closed to motor traffic during Preview and actual day.

According to the map, you can get up to the bridge along Nicoll highway from Stadium Rd and then get down to the Promenade area across the Kallang Basin River. See map below. If I'm not wrong, the blue triangles are the stairs. I'll probably check it out if I recce today.

For option C, I've never been there b4 although I've passed by that junction numerous times. So don't know what block number. Will check it out also if I do recce today.
