I am going to put up a used Nikon full manual/auto SB-25 with Stofen Omni-bounce for sale. Good for my S602 and will be for all other non-TTL cams. Look out for it in Suy/sell in the next few days.

A new english (inhabitant of England) owner of the S9500 is complaining because the camera black out for more than a second after the click...
Here are his words "Sorry. I've decided.

Either this camera is defective or its just a really bad camera.

Its the 1 second or longer staring at the blank evf/lcd with a few burnt out pixels after the shutter is depressed that really depresses me."
Is it true?
thanks in advance

Sure... Here's a list of flashes that the Fujifilm S9500 is believed to be able to handle:

1. Nikon SB-22S - Probably the cheapest Nikon Speedlight still in production. I believe the price should be around $200 without haggling. Specs available from Nikon Singapore

2.
Both my Nikon SB800 and SB28 works well with S9500. You can get a used SB28 for below $200 (I paid $150 for a used unit). SB800 is too expensive to be used on S9500. SB600 is not suitable because it doesn't have Auto mode and without light sensor (of course, professional will still able to use SB600 with S9500 on Manual mode).

Cross posting an advertisement, I have put an SB25 up for sale in the Buy/Sell forum. Auto mode very good exposure for my S602, should be just as well with S9500.

Sorry for the intrusion, someday, I'll probably get the S9500 myself.

I have seen in the Buy and Sell, someone was trying to sell the S602 for about $300, but fnally deal for $250 without the extras.

S9500 is selling for about $999 in Singapore with 256M CF card, a tripot and camera bag.

On a separate note.

I have just returned from a biz trip to Las Vegas where I managed to try out the S9500. Using the Natural light feature, I was pretty impressed with the quality of the shot.

Have yet to view most of the pics closely on my PC, but something disturbing I noticed when doing a review running the CF card off my PC was the videos I took (640x480) did not flow smoothly during the zoom in/out sequences. Instead they stopped and started whenever the video began zooming in/out. Perhaps it is the CF card reader in the PCMCIA slot, maybe it would be flowing smoothly when saved on HDD. Being jetlagged, I have yet to try playing it off my PC.

Any other users face similar problems?

I believe that the processing resources was not enough for both video capture/compression and auto focus. Everytime you zoom, autofocus kicks in.

In video cameras, focus is on a separate machanism. Best to just a still camera as a still camera, and get a video cam for video.

Treat the video mode as just a small convenience added, not as a full fledged feature.

Totally agreed. My intention with the S9500 was not for video, but was thrilled that I can do the occassional video with zoom capability. My previous video xp using the S9500 were slight off focusing, but nothing to the extent of affecting the stream flow of the video. Anyway, I will check if the problem persists after transfering the file over to my hard disk.

Cheers!

Hi all,

Care to share what accessories you've secured for your S9500? Also, where you got it and $price? I'm sure many others will benefit! ;p

My equipment list for s9500 is -
1) HMC CIRCULAR POLARIZED FILTER.
2) EXTERNAL FLASH - METZ 54MZ-4I WITH STANDARD 301 FOOT.
3) 1GB SANDISK ULTER 11 CF CARD.
4) GRUPPO MANFROTTO 055 BLACK TRIPOD.

Need to get shutter release cable for the camera.

As for external flases any of the recommended flashes for the s7000z camera will work on this camera.

Andrew.

Care to share with us how much you paid for the flash and tripod? Oh, by the way, what is your reason for getting Mecablitz 54 MZ-4i? If I understand it correctly this type of flash is for camera with hotshoe that has TTL function...

Ha!

Finally got the pictures taken on my hard drive. No more problems with delay. The video came out well with no distortion or stoppages.

I love my S9500!!!

Welcome to the usergroup... perhaps one day (soon?) that we can have a S9500UG gathering to critique any available reviews of the camera...:bsmilie:

Wanna share some pictures that I've taken with S9500 recently.

you have my support!

I've posted 1 more pix (with exif) in the gallery. check it out. so far, i am impressed with the pix quality taken from S9500

yeah, it's really a great cam! BUT, maybe I'm prejudiced and staying that way.. :bsmilie:

Any more users? seem so few....

Curious, what do you use your S9500 to shoot anyway?

I paid about $600aud for the 54mf-4i metz flash and an extra $24aud for the standard 301 foot. The gruppo manfrotto 055 black tripod i paid $800aud with extras for the tripod. Yes the metz 54mf-4i flash has TTL function with the supplyed 3402 hot shoe foot, but not if you take this hot shoe foot off and add the standard 301 foot. I bought this metz flash as possible upgrade to a future DSLR fuji or nikon camera.

Very nice and wise way to start off with your set... and have options for future upgrade
