Personally, I have used SB25 on my S602zoom to very good effect, both at Manual and Auto modes.

If getting Nikon flash to use only with 'dumb' hotshoe cameras (like the s9500), anything above the SB-28 does not really yield any improvement.. not really necessary to spend more on SB-28DX, SB-80DX..

I gotta agree with that, waste of money IMO as you are paying for the TTL which cannot be utilised by the camera. I still think all prosumers should at least have a TTL hotshoe otherwise defeat the purpose.
