i;m so confused which flash to get for my s9500 -_-"
1mth+ liao.. still havent decide,,,..

sb28..
sb600..
and???....

any recommended one?

Can try entry level flash from Suntax (local brand), model 328 DTZ. (www.suntax.com.sg).
My suggestion is to get a cheap one and learn how to use it first. Those models you've suggested are very expensive:o

can get 2nd hand mah...
i used to use film SLR long time ago and i always borrow flash from friends =P.. but after years of not taking photos seriously, i somehow lost touch.. wahahahaha .. >.<

Suntax... i never heard of.. where to get it? and how much is one?

Skip the suntax and go for Nikon. Either the SB-28 or SB-25 (if your budget is lower) would be great. Think the SB600 has no Auto mode so won't be suitable.

I had a Suntax which burnt (too easily, after a few consecutive shots).

As a beginner to digital camera, I thought that getting a cheap flashlight to learn is the way to go. just my opinion...:)

can this camera do infinity focus is manual focus mode?

Do these flash supports TTL on the S9500? Or the S9500's flash hotshoe is still a 'dummy' one like that of the FZ30?

The S9500 has a dummy hotshoe, so no TTL with any flashes. It's just that the Nikons have very good Auto modes to work with dummy hotshoes, and are robust and reliable.

How does the Auto mode work? Does Auto mode means that the flash have inbuilt metering or something? But one still have to set the aperture and shutter speed on the flash right?

SB28, SB28DX or SB50...

which 1 is better for s9500?

The one that is most powerful, has the most controls (zoom, aperture, auto mode, manual, tilt, rotate, close-up), uses the most convenient battery (AA), fastest recycle time, and at the most affordable price (if money is not a concern, then go for SB80DX, SB800, or Metz hammerheads).

Personally, I have used SB25 on my S602zoom to very good effect, both at Manual and Auto modes.

i have narrow down my choice to SB-50DX or SB-80DX.

any second hand available for sell?

Hi guys, it's been a pleasure being a part of this family. But, realised that I need the speed that only a DSLR offers.

However, S9500 is really a great performer! :)

Also, just to share, I realised the free UV filter I received from MS during the comex reduces the contrast of my lens. I've compared with HOYA HMC UV filter, you can see the difference. So, those of you using the same UV filter, you can verify by placing the UV filter over the naked lens and remove. You'll see the difference by comparing with your eyes.

So, if you feel your pictures lack contrast, or sharpness, then this could be a reason. ;)

Now you got me worried... I purchased the S9500 from MS after the comex and BOUGHT a hoya UV filter also, I think was at $10. How do I know if it's the same one you mentioned. Mine is standard Hoya packaging, think label is purple colour.

HMC UV filter is definitely better right? How much does it cost? MS selling?

The brand is Raydawn. I think HOYA should be ok...

anyway, matching any quality lens with any cheap glass will probably deteriorate the contrast and sharpness.... best is naked lens.... just my 2 cents worth...

By my post, i am not critical of MS... Florence provided me with great service and extra freebies, to which I am grateful.... but, just to share my "discovery".... for the common good of s9500 users... :bsmilie:

I'm experiencing camera shake when using at 300mm zoom, the pictures turn out bit blur. This wasn't the case with my old S5000. Could the weight of the camera be a factor?

Well, I know using tripod could eliminate this problem, but compare : S9500 vs S5000 at 300mm and S5000 is clearer, something missing here??

Btw, anyone bought any 58mm macro lens yet for S9500? Prices?

That is probably because the S5000 still maintain F3.1 at fully tele, and 9500 is F4.1, I find this is the set back of the S9500. Even my old 602Z is able to keep constant F2.8 at fully tele.

Juz got mine last friday from MSColor and was out shooting on sunday (samsung inline at the padang). I am really new at photography..I attended some classes b4 but yet still blur blur... took those pixs in Auto Mode....:embrass:
Still trying to learn frm u guys.... Hope u can share some tips.... Anyone joining the Photography Marathon on 22nd Oct?
