Traffic Police and LTA road planners need to re-examine this road junction carefully. This is a known accident prone area. Why is this so?
Any contributing factors in the way the road is planned?
Could the placement of traffic lights at this junction have been confusing to drivers i.e. both the Ferrari driver and the taxi driver thought they had a green light to go ahead.
Any need for road bumps to slow down potential speeding drivers?

They can tackle on another front. Expensive sport car drivers need to go for regular yearly talks and lessons on how not to speed on regular roads. Ethics lessons for potential errant drivers.
Because the natural human tendency is to want to show off in a fast + expensive car and speed. They want to emulate their fave movie stars and copy the dramatic movie car chases.

CAR driving license must got class specification! iimagine a newbie punk driving his father ferrari. moreover it is back driven / 4 wheel drive! so diff machine than Drive centre.

motor bike got Class 2B (1year later) / 2A (1year later) / 2 (1year later), so car also classified 1600cc / 2000cc (1year later) / 2500cc (1year later) / sport car catergory(1year later). sport car catergory must have experience and handling certififed by Traffic police

any laws to force the ferrari driver family to compensate the victims? i guess not.. lets' hope the family have the conscience to do so.. not breaking the law does not mean you do not break the moral law.

I have no sympathies for the ferrari driver btw. His passing was probably the lightest sentence he could have got, leaving a trail of mess behind.

I m sure some of us would opine having to instill pain and punishment on his family as a sort to exact revenge and the apparent injust. But on the flip side is not the pregnant wife a victim as well?

Morals n emotional conflicts aside, speaking of local legalities, anyone knows if a family is responsible for answering the crimes n misgivings of a perished member?

i did not speculate. i'm providing a possible alternative to everyone's demonizing even before evidence is released. if you want to troll me again, please do so elsewhere.

I don't really think that values and laws have changed that much, specially when we are talking about lost lives.

The issue here with this case is that people feel angry when so much attention was given to the ferrari driver, to probably sensationalized the entire accident. yet, none is given to the other victims.

Time has changed,yes...but values? Law? I doubt so...this is lives lost...life is more valuable than anything...as for law...it hasnt changed...

then you have to blame the newspapers.

don't you think laws and values have changed in regards to the change in economic climate and globalization? if you think about it this way, i'm only putting into perspective what the local news agencies are doing with regards to this case. and human reaction to such cases have changed as well. don't think that things are still the same. in retrospect, we all probably loved having foreigners visit our country in the 90s. how do you even feel about them now, given all the horrid stuff that has been going on? look at the broader picture not just one event.

before the influx of foreigners into singapore, laws were probably different back then. but to handle such high-profile cases now, the law definitely has more on their hands to worry about on how to go about sentencing the guy (you all probably already read about his background).

in no way am i defending him. in fact, i couldn't possibly care less about the case. i just don't see why we should demonize people before we get the whole truth out. yes he was speeding, but there might be something else that perhaps made him lose control.

if i may reference one case i had where the lady driver of a van tried to force me out of my lane not once but three times. the third time she turned to glare at me and point fingers. she probably went home and told everyone i cut her lane once and gave her a shock (and that's speculation). but then, her friends and family will demonize me without knowing what happened and say bikers are reckless, isn't that so?

and that is the point i'm bringing across from the beginning.. is not to create stories and judge the dead man even before the verdict is read out. it's not nice, and especially since we don't know the whole story, it's best to just say "my condolences" and end it at that. no one likes to be the one at the receiving end, so why are we doing it to this guy here?

From that video, it's show that the ferrari driver got NO intention to stop or slow down during RED light. The impact not from the right side of the taxi, but from the left. Imagine the time the taxi took off from start to the impact area, enough for the ferrari to aware that there are RED light ahead. Unless he is blind, else he would try to jam brake and cause less damage. Really an idiot (even he is dead) cause he caused another 2 lives, injure 1 innocent and the woman, I no comment (cause belongs to his!) I recall an small "accident" on me too. Caused by PRC on a BICYCLE! I was about to cross the road at a T junction. I looks for oncoming cars from front and my right. CLEAR! I cross. BANG! A PRC cyclist hit my leg from my left side! She is cycling against the traffic flow and lucky thing is that my "brother" not hit. Else I sure call police and ask her to pay for the damage! Actually I should push her down on the road and then make her paid for it! :devil:
