Sometimes it depends on mainstraem culture, moores and 'norms' at the time I guess.

You remember that oh-so-profound sounding song Don't dream it's over? Everyone thought it was some super profound trip through life's journies bla bla bla when the guys wrote about being stuck in a broken down van in a storm!

I like some of the Beautiful South's music as well, and the Style Council.

nah...commercial jazz stuff.... not so into it... easy elevator music like Kenny G but nothing more. I go for the old schoolz and standards.. Django Reinhart, Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, George Benson's earlier quitet days, les paul, Chet Atkins,.....my list is long heheh... and most are jazz "axemans"
