I'm very eager to know the mirror construction. I hope it's not the old "glue-on" rubbish which keeps dropping off...:dunno:

no mention of any changes there..:sweat:

5D MkII sample video. Wow

It will take some time to fully downloaded. The fish-eye video (the third one) is amazing
Wow that's indeed amazing. The squirrel video is really smooth despite the quick munching movement of the mouth. It looked as if it was sampled much higher than the 30fps video spec.

No need to buy video cam lao....and I am ok with the 12-mins-video limitation

Is there a microphone that can be mouted on a camera flash hotshoe? That would make 5DII a killer video recording tool due to clean high ISO and various lens options.

Thats my initial reaction.... interchangeable lens HD video at that kind of price!;)

Which means theoretically, it has an electronic shutter? I dunno, I am eyeing this closely. Previous video cam with interchangeable lens is the Canon XL H1 which costs a bomb!!! Also 5DMk2's staggering MOV 38.6Mb/s beats the HG10's AVCHD 17 Mb/s!!! That alone is ground breaking as most HD implementation are using the AVCHD ....;p

Edit: just read about the 12 mins limit... damn! Why must they do this?? So that a Mk.IV can be released with no limits??

I'm so wondering, what is Canon thinking? Is this innovation of DSLR?

That said, 5DI indeed has a very good IQ and might be better than D3 at the baseline ISO, but when it comes to higher ISO, of cos D3 would win, cos D3 is a few years in front. That said, I'm a Canon user myself and would certainly like to see the IQ and high ISO of the markII. ;p

buttie! BBB! :bsmilie: :embrass:

Define your version of innovation then send it to Canon for evaluation. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

You hit the nail on the head!

The 5D Mk2 has a lop sided set of features. Nikon's impending 24 MP FF with 51 pt AF system in a D700 body (D800?) will blow the 5D MK2 out of the window.

Superior AF. That's the only thing that seperate 1D series over everything else Canon makes. That still makes the 1D series a superior camera.

Let's start a 5D Mk 3 thread and let Canon knows what we really want in the 5D upgrade. The 5D Mk 2 isn't it!

More AF points = Better AF ability?

and to think by now you would have gotten used to people who don't know better hurling nonsensicals around.....

do you actually use the af points when there are more??? from what i understand.. most of us actually use the mid point only... so what for you need so many points... it might be better to certain ppl.. but it certainly isn't a must...

er...what do u based ur words on? Lol, so cute.
Have you shoot with the 5d2 yet to make the comparison? Have you printed out anything even from D700 YET?

Lol....dun make a joke of yourself ba...

No need to be personal dude.. I am long time canon user.. have used 5D and have a lot of respect for that camera. Recently got a D3 from a friend for use on a expedition.. So can compare the two brands..

Also you dont need to print to compare. You just do side by side feature comparison and you will know how do the two stack against each other..

Dont mind spending some time telling you that and letting you take a few shot with D3.. but I liked the way you responded.. really cute ;)..

If you want to make a pro-looking movie, got to use editing software and change angles now and then. The 12min limitation won't be a problem. The real deal is the DOF control that could only be found in high end 35mm videocam. This is really a fantastic feature added in 5D2 and possibly future DSLRs. It easily compensates the lack of pro AF at this point of time. At this rate, 3 years down the road we may have an all-in-one pro-video-photo cam at sub 3k. Amazing...

3.9 fps only.. quite dissapointed..

just a simple question, sorry if i missed it.Does the 5D mark II record sound as well??

The EOS 5D Mark II will record video up to 4GB per clip or a maximum continuous movie capture time of 29 minutes and 59 seconds, whichever comes first. Depending on the level of detail in the scene, a 4GB memory card can record approximately 12 minutes of video at full HD resolution or approximately 24 minutes in standard definition.1 Video clips are recorded in .MOV format using an MPEG-4 video compression and sound is recorded using linear PCM2 without compression. The new camera features an input terminal for external stereo microphones as well as a built-in monaural microphone for convenience. To help show off those fantastic movies as well as still photos, the EOS 5D Mark II camera includes an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) output to display crisp, clear images on a High-Definition TV.

Stereo mic + mic input :) That's one up over the D90 for sure...which only has mono mic & 720p movie recording. But I agree with what someone here mentioned....3.9fps & 9 AF points + 6 hidden, doesn't sound too good esp if compared with D700, given the customer base it is supposed to target on. Do you really need 21 megapixels if you do not plan to shoot & print at resolutions exceeding A2 sizes? Most people within this category will find that 12 megapixels is all you need, unless of course you are a commercial photographer who needs to make super huge prints, but I think people who do that are all using the 1D series. If I were a 5D user..I think I will skip this upgrade and wait for a 5Dmk3 or Canon 7D....

In everyday use, how frequent do we need 5 fps ? 8 fps ? Or is it a feel good factor ? For that matter, does it really make a diff between 3.9fps (4fps) and 5 fps ?

you'll need it in airshow's, car races and F1 or even your child running around, yeah it feels good that your camera can really capture the moments...

to me, fps is one big advantage of dslr over PnS
