All in all, you'll still see a fair amount of ppl getting it, especially if it hits our shores at the price of around $3.5K. Well, hopefully it'll go the way of the 40D and in a mere 12 mths, Canon will announce another camera with improved features at a similar or slightly lower price.

you'll need it in airshow's, car races and F1 or even your child running around, yeah it feels good that your camera can really capture the moments...

to me, fps is one big advantage of dslr over PnS

fps is not the only thing you should be looking at, this has to be combine with accurate AI Servo AF, else give you 8fps also no use.

If you want to make a pro-looking movie, got to use editing software and change angles now and then. The 12min limitation won't be a problem. The real deal is the DOF control that could only be found in high end 35mm videocam. This is really a fantastic feature added in 5D2 and possibly future DSLRs. It easily compensates the lack of pro AF at this point of time. At this rate, 3 years down the road we may have an all-in-one pro-video-photo cam at sub 3k. Amazing...

Yes, I get what you mean. With editing, most scenes can be contained within 12 min spans. Yup, the DOF control is what got me interested in this also. Really exciting times and this really brings pro-video to the average man. Waiting to get my hands on this to try out.

Tried turning the LCD off, but very hard to know where the AF locks.... well... still getting used to it loh. AF not as fast as 30D mah, very hard to shoot blind... also no idea if the shot was taken or not since no "feedback" of shutter release.

In olden times, we were trained not to look at the viewfinder when shooting. During that period, we have to use pre-visualization when shooting and know the settings by the tip. Now in digital age, I had became slacked liao. :sweat:

I shoot without looking thru the VF too... but tat's on DLSR.

But the P&S lacks certain "feedback" either thru touch of sound that I can't know what I've actually got. Coupled with slower AF, I also dunnoe if the AF locks on or not.
