Ditto. A "lite" full frame cam to fill in the price gap between 50D and 5D MK2. :sweatsm: I don't mind losing a few MP count and the HD Video capability as long as the price is right! :thumbsup:Mmm.... was really hoping for 2 model - aka 5D MkII & 5D MkII lite
You have sRAW for smaller files.
There is no doubt the 5D2 will easily surpass D3/D700 at high ISO.
I am not impressed.
5D MK 2 seems like a rushed job to match the D700.
The months after D300/D3 and the impending D700 have been spent in software improvments rather than real hardware advances. Much of the specs only slightly better than the 5D MK1. Movie mode is a waste of time for 5D customer base. Dropping the 1Ds MK3 sensor into the 5D MK2 is a no brainer. If I have the 5D Mk1 and dun need the extra pixels, I won't upgrade. I won't be surprised the current 5D will stay in the market to compete with the D700. Hmmm 5D MK1 and 5D Mk2 side by side - one at $2.5K and the other at $4K. I don't forsee a rush to sell the 5D MK1 for the 5D MK2.
My verdict - Can do better, Canon, please try harder next time. This model will not stay long in the market, the REAL 5D MK1 replacement is the 5D MK3.
There's just no pleasing some people... High specs + high price, complain... Good specs + good price, still complain... Low price, moderate specs... still complain.
Until someone comes up with a 30MP, 15fps, Base ISO 25600, nuclear fallout-proof body for S$1.00.... Or an organic, just-add-water-and-get-a-camera-for-free product arrives...

This is not a 1-series and priced ONLY at S$3k+! With 2 stops better noise performance, 21MP/10MP RAW/sRAW files, and HD video, what else do you expect? Pro AF? You better wait for 1DMK4 and prepare to pay S$6K... For the vast majority who seldom shoot sports/birds, the 5DMK2 will be a remarkably successful camera as I see it.I am not impressed.
