EM-10 Official! The OM-D for All!

Anyone here both have the em5 and em10?

True? I asked Ark the other day. He said silver in 2 months time... Waa disinformation man!!

Yeah. I was at funan earlier and saw the silver available post. Hesitate for half an hour before I went in to make my purchase.

Hi users!

Just to check have anybody managed to read the raw images via LR or CS6?

Updated both of them and seems that it still can't be read.

Think CS6 cannot, only CC when updated, light room no update yet afaik

Anyone knows if the pancake zoom will work with the auto lens cap if I put a UV filter on the lens?

I don't think you can put a UV filter on it in the first place, but I'm not entirely sure on that, anyway, why would you put a UV filter on the lens?

Is there a set pairing the EM-10 with the new 25mm f/1.8? :) Haven't had the time to check this out in the shops, still toying between (i) whether to get a OM-D as a second camera, lighter option during days where I don't intend to shoot landscapes, (ii) getting a second hand EM-5 or (iii) getting a EM-10. I'm not too sure if I need or want the pancake zoom though, even if it's really nifty. :bsmilie:

The usual MO is to protect the lens ma.. Anyways that debate is quite a dead horse. People who believe will put, people who don't will use the lens naked. :bsmilie:

thinking along the same line as you... have a 5D3 but sometimes i wanna bring out something smaller and lighter and since my parents have hijacked my EOS-M, thinking to get m43 to compliment my 5D3. Initially thought of a 2nd hand EM5 but the EM10 looks very promising or I can just bite the bullet and get the EM1. Heading down to funan after work to see see look look...

If u see this link, picture 5, there's a small catch on the lens cap. If it's closed, the front of lens will push this catch which will close the lens cap. The lens cap is screw on to lens, so it will fit a UV filter which normally should have threads to mount this cap. But I doubt it will close the lens cap because the catch looks small, even with a slim UV. If i have a chance i will test it next week, else a trip to vivo roadshow (end on sunday) may be able to confirm. hope that helps.

Can, coz it's threaded on:)

Tough decision, how about going to Vivo roadshow, they have many EM10s to test out. Best to feel how small it is in your hands and ergonomics. Don't buy there though haha. One thing though, they didn't turn on the super control panel, so for some who's not familiar with menu, may find it a pain to use, was there yesterday.

The key difference EM10 vs EM5
- 3 vs 5 axis. For daily usage, hardly significant diff, there's a good review here
- Wifi (this is a big one for me after being pampered by EP5) and they simply improved app functions with EM10, while EM5 has no wifi. Unfortunately they dun extend the new functions on wifi to EP5 users atm (like shooting in M mode remotely). I realized yesterday at roadshow, live composite is also not available, just live time and live bulb.
- Non Weatherproof...
- Hand Grip vs Battery Grip (there's pros and cons on either one but at least there's a grip option if you wish to go big lenses vs say EP5)
- built in flash...
- some others small ones...

DPReview has a good table for comparison on the difference, the rest is really up to you to test and decide.

Thanks for the summary Liang Piow.. I have been comparing for a while.. Don't think the EM-5 and EM-10 are going to be that different for me. I don't really use Wifi, I probably won't get the weather sealed lens. So to me the difference is first-hand versus second-hand and whether I think I will use the 14-42 pancake lens. I really don't need the wide angle segment and probably will end up using M4/3 primes.. So I think I will be going for a second-hand EM-5. :)

By the way, what's this I'm reading about no self-cleaning of EM-5? That seems like a joke, with Olympus claiming that the technicians "recharge" some anti-static coating on the sensor. Really? :bsmilie:

Hahahah, sorry Wonglp, I didn't go remove the cap and look in details =P. Edutilos, I agree with putting UV filter, just that for this particular lens, I'm curious cause when the camera is off (and maybe when it sleeps) it retracts the lens, and it'll close automatically, hence my question =D

actually following up on this, any idea what exactly do they clean and check? :) was passing by Wed night and was told by them they accept all Oly models for cleaning but wasn't able to give any details on how they do it.
