If all doctors were to treat their mommas like this (assuming, since we can't expect the newspapers to cover everything happening in Singapore every single day if not it would be like the Encylopedia Britannica), are u not gonna see doctors at all even if u're going to croak? :dunno:

Yup. I RATHER CROAK than see a heartless doctor

Your scenario is unrealistic and so is my answer :)

think those doctors who have no parents won't worry abt such things happening to them

Personally I dont think he deserves to be a doctor.:thumbsd:

I pity his mother..

Having worked so hard to put him thru medical school and pinned all her hopes on him...

Now ... :(

What is wrong wif ppl nowadays ???!!!???!!?!???!?!????

just like those TVB dramas but this one is real life account *sad case*

as our society aiming for the 5 Cs, you will see more and more such cases

First off, no matter what the circumstance, what the son did is not acceptable.

However having seen a similar situation first hand, and in that case, although from an outsiders point of view, like this, the mother appears to be a saint by sacrificing everything for her only son, if you had to stay with that woman, she would drive you totally nuts.

So I feel that the mother probably had a big part to play in this case as well.

However, in this case if the son really cannot tahan living with the mother anymore, and money is not a real issue here, he should either have moved and left the flat to the mother, bought her a 3 room flat of her own, or moved her to a home. There are always other options, just leaving her bags on the door step is pretty heartless, even if she is the biggest b&*ch around, she still is his mother and has taken care of all his needs all these years

what the world is becoming? remember that there's someone is watching. just beware.

Oh BTW Tetrode, if u do have an issue with my debate and have a vendetta, do bring it up here where we can all have a proper verbal joust.

It seems that u have a serious vendetta against those in the medical profession as u speak and reveal your mind and thoughts and not being entirely objective on the entire situation and seem determined to condemn doctors to eternal Hell. No wonder a friend once told me that nurses & doctors are the most unappreciated lot.

Don't have to PM me with "WTF is your problem, do you have an issue with me?" when the fact is I don't have an issue with anyone here on this thread and on kopitiam unless THEY CHOOSE TO DO SO.

The only person with a vendetta is you. WTF is your problem? You have been on my case since ESPN's time - you are one of his minions no doubt.

I'm not going to have a 'verbal joust' in this thread as it is against forum rules. I will happily debate you offline in PM. I'm not going to break forum rules for a turd like you. :)

What you actually demand from a Doctor is that of a Utophian Dream.

Unfortunately, lets get back to Planet Earth. Doctors are humans as well and all humans regardless of profession, HAVE their individual fallacies which cannot be seen except in hindsight.

Upon taking the hippocratic oath as required, Doctors are bounded to perform tasks which serve everyone regardless of age, religion, colour. But that doesn't make them instant saints or gods. Even Doctors have their limits and are only human. :)

I suppose you are a doctor then? You seem so peeved that people are beating up on them. :)

Agreed, that one of the aims of pursuing medicine should be for humanitrian reasons.

Nonetheless, doctors are also human. Would it be unreasonable to assume that doctors also want a slice of "the good life"? It would be unrealistic to expect anybody to work long hours performing work which comes with a hefty chunk of responsibility for a pittance.

Third world countries suffer a chronic shortage of doctors and nurses. Why? Because these people are being poached by richer countries that offer them better terms (ie: living conditions and pay). I personally know 2 African doctors who are contemplating of migrating to Western countries because of the afore-mentioned reasons. If you take a look at Singapore's papers today, we are also beginning to poach these professionals from other countries, no third world countries were mentioned, but we do see quite a few Burmese and Indian doctors in the Polyclinics and hospitals these days.

The governments that put those African doctors thru med school must be feeling the same way that mother in must be.

My sentiments exactly and what I said earlier in the thread.

I agree about driving you nuts part. BUT why in the world did the doctor took over the flat and drove the mother out? Common, he earn 200k a year, and his wife also working, surely they can afford a flat of their own.

I agree that some mothers are quite err... terrible to live with. If you don't want to live with your parents, fine. Go out and get your own place.

I guess all of us feel that way to. So the bottomline again, who is this doctor huh?

There is an old cantonese says "Good Daugther-in-law is better than a Good Son"

So, what we see here is a ideal example of that. Really pity that woman. :(

In this case, the doctor in question is SUB-human. Just like the thing you see when you look in the mirror. :)

Can't help it. Fact of life....

I don't think anybody can deny them their right as individuals to pursue a better life. Granted, it's a pity they cannot stay and help their nation, but what would any of us do in their position?

People and jobs are mobile and they obey the laws of economics. Anybody who believes that the medical industry is supposed to be unique (ie: where the laws of economics do not apply) and is supposed to behave unlike any other industry, is not living in reality.

Jobs in advertising, IT, manufacturing, education, etc... all obey the laws of economics, is medicine supposed to be any different?

Some of the posts here are rather remarkable. Going by their expectations, doctors are supposed to work punishing hours, shoulder a heavy burden of responsibility, get paid a pittance, have to be at the beck and call of the public, and goodness knows what else.

C'mon guys, would any of you take that sort of deal? I mean, really?

And the world keeps sending them aid....

So being a doctor has been reduced to being a ticket to a better lifestyle isn't it?

So why did you become one?

The answer is ALL people strive for a better life. Wouldn't you?

Say, were you a drug rep once? If so, with which company?

Incidentally, for everybody reading this:

Leadership 101 : Don't ever ask others to do anything you are not prepared to do yourselves.

Nope, I was never a drug rep. But I do know a lot of doctors. So I know the other side of the story. ;)

Funny that. I guess a lot of our leaders are really doing it hard.
