wait a while longer...Canon will produce cheaper FF DSLRs......in the meantime: BUY BUY BUY....:bsmilie:rinaldi86 said:I want a full frame DSLR, but not interested because no $
lol... but when needed, I can use a full frame still, though it's not digital ;pJediForce4ever said:wait a while longer...Canon will produce cheaper FF DSLRs......in the meantime: BUY BUY BUY....:bsmilie:
kuoann said:Seeking advice. I have an EOS 5 (film) and 28-135USM IS. If I wanted a digital equivilent, options are:
1. buy 'cheap' EOS 350D and 17-85 USM IS. However, if in future, FF becomes cheaper and I want to upgrade, I will have to buy not only a new body, but my 17-85EFS would be useless. So total spent, 2 bodies and 1 lens.
2. Buy 5D. Although initially expensive, it already FF, so won't need to upgrade in future, and don't have to buy a new lens either since my old 28-135 works as intended. Total cost: just 1 expensive body.
Thus would it be penny-wise pound-foolish to take option 1? Better to just bite the bullet and buy the 5D?
Any advise? Thanks. Backgound: I'm just a casual shooter, but like FF for better 'background blur' and wide angle.
Beerboy said:Ok.... the price of the Full Frame DSLR is not a barrier.
Lets say that the 1DsMk2 costs 2,000.00 & the 5D costs 1,500.00 I am sure that a LOT more people can now afford those cameras,...
Let's say that the D2 suddenly came with a FF option....let's pretend they have a "D2F" body...and a "D200F".. at the same price points above......and then throw on a pair of FF bodies for KM & Pentax too..
IF they were offered, & to cost only this much,..would you want a Full Frame DSLR, or not..?

The trends in electonics has always been towards smaller... doesn't make sense to stick to the big sensor format even after one has gone digital.

wind30 said:ultimately how high a dynamic range you want? How high a ISO you want?
Currently I am pretty satisfied with my oly E1 ISO800 after using neat image. I do wish for 10MP for large prints. But beyond that, do you REALLY need ISO3200??
I personally NEED lighter lens. There is not much chance that canon full frame lens will get any lighter but there is plenty of chance that oly can produce a 10MP sensor with good ISO1600 within the next 2 years.
As for wide angle, I agree that olympus should have a affordable wide angle... I really wished that they have a 18mm (35mm eq) lens that is around 1k... like all the 12-24mm lens on 1.5 crop factor bodies.
Same for television... I mean after you reach 1920 by 1080 HD resolution, is there ANY POINT in increasing the resolution? Once you reach 5000:1 contrast, is there ANY POINT in increasing the contrast. What I am saying is sensor technology will improve rapidly, sooner or later the advantages of FF sensor will not be so apparent anymore. Then all you have is a HEAVY BULKY outdated system
