let's not get too excited on the dates. to clarify, the shipment to Singapore is scheduled for 2 Apr. It will be available at your favorite stores on the following monday. some dealers may receive their batch earlier.

Olympus Malaysia to showcase E-620 at DCIM 2009 [27-29 Mar 2009]

No. Olympus didnt turn up in that event. The event was disappointed with too few brands (Canon, Nikon......uh..... and Lumix) + laptop, some accessories(not much choice), epson and canon printer, Western Digital portable HDD, some memory card, a booth where Nikon demonstrate lighting system and a limited space stage with basic spot light for their Velocity Angels appearance.

I was hoping to get my hand on that E620 and went all the way from Ipoh to Mid Valley.

I was considering the G1 when I recently sold my E520 (viewfinder too small for me and grip big). But now I hold back until E620 is available before making my decision. Good lively discussion.

look out for an ad by olympus for the E620 on the papers (usually ST). new releases are usually in most stores in about a weeks time from the ad.

the olympus rep at the event did mention that the E620 should be available for sale at the popular shops from next monday (6 Apr)

Got a question for those of you who tried out the E-620 at the recent Olympus event. Does the view finder exhibit the same problem as that of the E-30? As in not being able to bring both the image and the shot settings into focus at the same time.

I tried 1 x E30s and 2 x E620...didn't notice any problems with the VFs.

Do you wear glasses by any chance? I was trying out the E-30 the other day and even after adjusting the diopter, I had some difficulty using the viewfinder as either the picture or the settings would be blur (to my eyes). Perhaps it was a faulty E-30.

I don't wear glasses when i shoot, i did notice that the eye-point of the E30 is deeper compared to the E5xx and E3. I'm quite used to that as I use my E510 with the ME-1 all the time.

Sigh, think i heard wrong... was still thinking 1 Apr announce, 2 Apr start to sell. Went down to CP hoping to bag it home. Kinda disappointed. Coz 6 Apr will in overseas w/o this niffy cam.

Back to the same old advise... might want to look at the other brands in this case... :think:

if u are looking at Oly...u should consider the overall package instead of just noise...look ..this small compact DSLR packed with reliable SSW dust system, color, 5pt x-AF, inbody IS, free angle LCD, effective LV with face detection ..

all systems has their advantages/disadvantages. noise is one of the disadvantages of the E-system (compared to others), but has a lot more advantages as well. it all comes down to preference and need.

Oly's noise doesnt bother me much as i dont pixel-peep or print large sizes. just have to learn to compensate for this weakness and it should be fine
