Diluted bleach baths help kids with eczema

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - New research shows that a regimen of dilute bleach baths and antibiotic nasal ointment can improve symptoms in children with eczema, a common, often itchy, skin condition that can become infected with skin microbes.

"We and others have found anecdotally the addition of dilute (bleach) baths to be helpful in decreasing infection rates and disease severity" in children with eczema, Dr. Amy S. Paller and associates, from the Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, note. The current study, however, is the first to compare this strategy with an inactive "placebo" approach.

How did you manage to dig up this thread ?

Eczema is something passed down through family.

Some have it in a mild sense and can be treated (not cured) with treatments.

Generally making it go away for a time.

The way you eat, bathe and dress helps supress it.

But a person (such as my youngest sister) that has it fully, there is nothing that will remove it.

Such a person has to basically come to grips with it always being a problem.

Such a person will have to take various drugs for their life to just keep it back enough to have a life.

If it is bad enough, "as for my sisters case which is noted as the worst known in Australia",

I am sorry for you because it is going to kill her.

I am witnessing this right now

Hey, to let everyone know how I toned down my eczema since a few months ago, I didn't take medicine/steroid drugs or anything special at all. It's simple: Just detoxify your body. And I did that by sticking on a strict veg/fruits/no rice/no meat diet for 3-4 months. I ate cod liver oil so that I've more omegas for the body to generate the layer of oil needed to protect my skin. I bathed in a tub of seasalt (bought from the market), which helps my skin to absorb moisture and help to relieve stress in my life.

Although it's slowed down quite considerably, (cause I started eating like normal again, and probably cause of stress) it does help alot to get my condition getting a load better. It beats taking medicine and pills and cream everyday.

FYI, I've not had another outbreak so far, which is a really good sign.

Not sure if TS is still reading this thread but I have asthma and am wondering what vacuum cleaner u use now?

In the 30 plus years that my sister has had the problem I can't say one thing or another that will eradicate it.

But, what I can say is there are measures that you can take that will help.

I don't know of the best (believe me we have tried EVERYTHING) vaccume cleaner to use, but by simply having someone else emptying it for you is a good idea !

Polen is sometimes a problem too. Don't stay away from gardens (thus missing out on their beauty) but take note of the times when plants polinate !

DO NOT get paranoid about it (this is not a good thing to do).

Wear light clothing... something that will not cause you to perspire.

Shower in the morning and then before you go to bed (you should anyway :bsmilie:)

Drink a calming tea (stress is not good)

Love others without worry (eczema is not something you can give to someone).

Believe that I and many others are here for you if you want to talk.

Cheers :)

Yea, I got really tired easily at that time... but when the results show, it was more than worth it... believe me, you've no idea how depressing it was to be relying on steroid pills, creams and antibiotics for 3 years... a few months of diet is nothing compared to it. I don't even need pills/creams and all the harmful stuff right now

Anyone who needs more info/have questions about my diet and stuff, just PM me... :)

It has been a while since I have updated this thread regarding my son's progress. He has recovered with occasional very minor outbreaks like rashes, etc. Nothing of great concern. He looks like a normal boy now. He is a bit short due to his steroid creams. Nevertheless he is much much happier now. Thank you all so much for your contributions. Thank you.

I strongly recommending to you to try Free Treatment by Qi Kong.

Please make visit to treatment centre at Telok Blanka St 31, Yes's bldg
every Wed 7.30pm-9pm
Sun 1.30pm to 330pm

There are many volunteers there to provide the free treatments.

Try,

Hope you try and hope this help you and your son.

Cheers/TM

Recently it got worse. i thinking of buying umf 15+ manuka honey to apply on the wound. I hope it will help. I tried to cover the wound with dressing/handiplast but my super delicate sensitive can't take it. Also tried ice pack, apply prickly heat powder.... but the wound is still there. In my inner upper thigh

I'm not too sure if this is the best forum for you to seek medical advise, it is best if you can consult a dermatologist instead. :)

Read my reply a few post back, try my suggestions. It's natural, chemical free, and don't require medicine.

I still have wounds somewhere, but it's slowly healing and getting better. They won't just disappear within a few months, they need time to heal. Important point is, it's healing.

I am a sufferer as well, there's always some outbreaks during seasonal changes etc on my feet.
recently, I had a change in lifestyle and took up swimming everyday for the last 2 weeks, miraculously, the skin which were infected with eczema, got better. I will continue monitoring to see if its really due to the swimming. maybe some of you could give it a try to see it provides some relief.

Just a bit of background on myself. My eczema breakout when i was a teenager, Over 10+ years, i've been relying on steroid cream to treat it and it works. Recently(tat was 3mths back) it flares up and i 'bobian' have to take steroid jab. the skin specialist say the jab effect will last for 3 weeks. True enough, 3 weeks later, the eczema came back even more serious. So i've been delaying to see him becoz i realise steroids no longer work for me. I tried other methods, tcm, neem, naturopath...
Yesterday i gave up. The wounds can't heal. I went to see the skin specialist. But i stressed to him that i dun want steroids. so he gave me antibiotic cream & non-steroid eczema cream to apply. He also gave me anti-histamine tablets. N he advise me to do UV light treatment. After visiting the skin specialist, i went to see the naturopath doctor.
I started to apply the cream yesterday night but i didn't take the anti-histamine tablets. Instead i took the supplements that were given to me by the naturopath doctor.
I will continue to monitor.....

hard for anyone to give an educated comment without knowing your medical history and current medical condition....... eg. are you diabetic ?

best to seek doctor's advise...... not photographers' ha ha :)

p/s best of luck and good wishes for a speedy recovery

Might be the chlorine in the pool water.

My brother also has eczema since when he about 5 years old plus till now (12 years old). He visits this skin doctor and has to apply cream after bathing everyday. I can't seem to find the name card for the doctor now, but if anyone is interested in visiting this doctor i can get my parents to get an address.

If i'm not wrong, it's best that those with ecezema don't bathe too often and excerising will bring out the rashes. That is from my brother's case. However reading the past replies has shown that it is probably a case by case basis and it is always better to seek doctors advice.

Hope this helps.

It has been a while since I login here. Glad to know that my thread is still alive all this while. Some updates on my child. His condition is still very good. Only very minor outbreaks with just some rashes. Still using the normal cream prescribed by the doctor. The moment he has his minor outbreak, I will immediately use the vacuum and it will subside.

The vacuum's brand is Rainbow. Cost $3500 approx. Can be paid by installment using credit cards. In my opinion, the solution is only good for sufferers who are allergic to dust mites. The vacuum is not found in shops but through direct marketing. If u have read my previous posts and my son's condition, it gave back a life back to my son. The contact person is Adnan, 91071147. My specialist was impressed with the results.
