Desperately desperately in need of help for my son

Looking at the images posted, I noticed that some parts of the legs are not affected. Do you know why?

You may be able to find a lead to the unaffected area.

Been a while since I updated this thread. I thank everybody for your concern. My son's condition has improved drastically. It has never been better. I have not seen such good skin for 3 years although there are some patches here and there. His skin is now smooth and is tender. The greatest credit to his drastic recovery was not due to medicine (even though the medicine contributed and the double pyjamas method helped) but a particular vacuum cleaner. We have been using the vacuum cleaner since his last discharge in early April. It was a desperate move that time. Heard and tested the vacuum cleaner. Read abt it. The nurse who was attending to my son has a daughter who has atopic ezcema. Also bought this vacuum cleaner and was cured. His skin has been clear for more than 1 month now.

He had a minor relapse recently which affected his scalp and groin which i believe due to his exam stress and the super hot weather. Now recovering

Thank you everyone for your prayers. Thank you for all the numerous support shown. Thank you.

Those who are interested to know more details abt the cleaner, can pm me for details.

There has been a few enquiries in the PM regarding the clinic that I was referred. Decided to put it out for the benefit of others. Details of the clinic

Name of Clinic : Shuangyin Chinese Medical Centre
Doctor : Zhou Shuang Yin MD(TCM)

This doc is also a lecturer/Clinical Tutor of Singapore Chinese Medical Studies

His charges are kind of expensive and he charges like private specialists.

Just to share my personal experience with this doctor.

Eczema has been bothering me for more than 10 years. Actually I have given up all hopes of a complete cure, but I decided to seek treatment with this doctor upon hearing about the positive comments.

In contrary to Ihsan's son experience, the infected parts on my legs went all sore & inflamed on the 2nd- 3rd day of taking the doctor’s medicine. Prior to taking his medication, the infected parts are still generally in control; with no redness nor inflammation.

When I went back for check-up 2 weeks later, his explanation was that he might have taken the wrong approach which was unsuitable for my body type. He changed the medication and told me to try for another 2 weeks. But the inflammation on my skin did not improve a bit, and to make matter worse, my whole body started to itch all over, which in the past was only limited to the infected parts on my legs. My face became inflamed as well. Red little bumps appeared around my nose, mouth which started flaking after a few days. This has never happened to me before, not even during my worse case of eczema.

Again I went back to him and requested for an explanation. He could not provide me with a satisfactory answer, just told me to have faith in him and to continue to take his medication for a further 3 months (which during the 1st visit, he guaranteed I’ll see improvement within a month of taking his medication). I told him frankly I have lost all faith in him, you guys know what he replied? He said: “Then I have nothing more to say to you.” Not even sounding apologetic for causing my condition to worsen.

He just came across to me as a medical practitioner who is only keen on making money , not genuinely concern for his patients.

Ihsan,

Am glad to hear that your son is getting better. :) I feel pain for your son when I saw the photos. It must have been even more heart wrenching for you as his parents. Hope things will only get better for him!

I am so sorry to hear that. Hope you recover soon. I can feel the pain for you. My son is on the road to recovery. Hopefully you will experience it.

This was what he went through from last Oct to this early april. I have posted his limbs before.

Thank god he is not going thru that anymore

Ihsan.

one of my nephew in malaysia went through the same thing. i dont know what happened, but someone recommended some jungle herbs . dont know if it was due to the herbs he's cured or what

Having had a bad reaction to oils from a sports massage since January, which turned into eczema on my legs, torso, arms.....and think the rest of my head decided to join in the rash party!.....I have been experimenting and hope my experiments will help some of you out there.

Eczema sufferers have to break the itch cycle which could be trigged by food and/or environmentally. Removal of the allergens/sensitivities is a start. However, once the eczema starts, it is now a battle to get it under control.

Background
Earlier on in the year, out of a little desperation I used a strong steroid cream....they always work temporarily.....never long term unless the eczema condition is mild. Unfortunately it came back even worst (which has been mentioned before in this thread). My eczema is not mild and have suffered a number of sleepless nights which makes the condition worst.

Last week
I decided to add a new factor into my skin cleansing regime....Sea Salt.

I can't get to the sea but I can bring the sea to me!

Salt has a long history of being used in wounds, etc (do a web search) and have been using sea salt for the last 8-9 days. The introduction of this has helped reduce the itching and am now seeing an improvement in the skin. It is still early days, but I hope it continues.

For those interested, I am journalling and keeping a diary here:
http://skinurghs.blogspot.com

.....and hope this helps some of you suffering to regain back control.

Just been to the doc. who says I don't have eczema symptoms (i.e. the red inflamed skin) any more, only very dry (leathery) skin. So now treating that with very high moisturing ointment (Epaderm). Still early days but will see after another 3 weeks

Changes I've made:
- sea salt baths (you need a good pain threshold when applying it directly on the skin)
- diet - eating lots of raw stuff, cooked fish, rice. No wheat or dairy
- moisturising loads - but found oils (e.g. extra virgin olive oil) tend to react negatively to my skin
- getting up thru the night to ice/have cold showers on the affected parts to regain scratch control

Hope this helps someone. Will carry on journalling but will let you know break throughs here.

Our best wishes to your son ,get well boy .

where to get the "sea salt"?

normal sea salt can be bought from the supermarket

dunno where to get "dead sea salt" in singapore as I picked up mine whilst working in Vienna - 500g for 2 euros - a bargain considering when doing a google search it seems really expensive in singapore

other considerations:

- a clean environment - means regularly vacuuming the areas that you populate most in your home (Ihsan has a great recommendation). I clean my bed everyday and put the bedding out in the sun

- ionized water - don't know if this will help - but it seems the Japanese use it a lot and have been doing so in their hospitals. Am looking at purchasing a unit to see if this will further help. Will add this to my journal when I've done so.

hi Ihsan, I came across your thread and decided to give my personal recommendation.

I didn't have such health condition but I do see people had eczema recovered or had their condition improved. They use diamond water, or you could try similar product but not pure water for sure, as a supplement to whatever they have, this is not holly water, it doesn't do wonder by itself.

Let him drink it, by big quantity, the water is "cooling", so it will take away the "heat" from him. and get him a small bottles of spray that fills with this water, whenever he feels itchy, just use the water to spray, and eventually, let him bathe with such treated water if possible. Boiling is optional but not recommended.

You can call the mainline at 64846333 to ask for a demo, trial or something like that, tell them your son's condition and ask somebody to assist. I can't guarantee 100% that it will help, but you can try for free like 2 weeks to 3 months. I used to be a dealer, if you wish someone to help, I can recommend you somebody to talk to, otherwise, just call the mainline. I heard stories about a guy reached a stage where he needs to cut the CD into half and use it to "scratch" his skin......

I haven't read the whole thread but want to chime in with my 2 cents on skin rash. I've had outbreaks of rashes in the past when I was under stress. Stress tends to affect the skin a lot at least on some people. The stress can come from many sources, physical, emotional, environmental etc... It has been said it has to do with an imbalance of cortisol or something that sets off a chain reaction in the hormonal system which causes skin reactions. Some people have food allergies and some people have allergic reactions to some clothing materials. I've also heard some people also have allergic reactions due to their own body oils and sweat so maybe that can have an influence on some cases. In cases of inflamatory conditions like this Chinese would catagorize it as 'hot chi' related so maybe cooling herbs and tonics might help to balance the body's inflamatory responses to allergens. In my own rash experience I've used oatmeal powder and Gold Bond powder to dry my rashes and reduce itching. Those also absorbs sweat since sweat can be an irritant on rash prone skin.

I'm not sure salt water or sea salt is the long term answer for rashes since salt will greatly dry up your skin.. but with drying out your skin with salt it also upsets the hydration balance of your skin and might make the long term healing of the skin delayed. I think it's best to use the mildest natural soaps that doesn't over dry then apply a gental skin protectant/moisturizer.

If all else fails and you have the urges to scratch try to slap instead. I find that by slapping my skin till it stings with some pain, it's not as damaging and reduces the itch a bit. Also ice helps a little bit as well to numb and cool. A bag of frozen peas, carrots or corn works great.

On my last trip back to Malaysia (over the weekend)...I got a bad rashes all over my body....this has been an annual affair for me....I got that normally during summer time when weather changed and I have prescription readily available from my GP but they can't really pin point why and not to mention fixing it :dunno:

My grandma always tried her traditional way on me using Chinese wine or garlic or whatever you name it....It did worked but I am reluctant because the smells wasn't pleasant

This time round I was introduced to use fruits enzyme by my aunt (she DIY her self)....actually I read about it b4 but never seriously bother....Out of curiosity and since I got nothing to loose....so I tried.....and to my surprise it really works....like a miracle....I just applied 2 times and shower it off a few minutes later........the irritation gone in just two days....was it coincident? Maybe.....But I just want to share with you if you are interested in this thing...

I did a Google just now....so far these are the closest that I can find....you may fine tune your searches if you are interested in other articles or in other languages

Hey Ihsan, it has been months since the last time i posted suggestions for your son. I'm glad that his condition has improved. I hope that it will continue to improve. :)

So happy for you and your son... Seeing your last photos brought tears to my eyes as it's such a pain for a parent to see a child suffer like that...

So what vaccuum are we talking about?

Hey Ihsan, I hope your son is better. Any updates?

Hey Ihsan, I hope your son is better. Any updates?

He is definitely much much better now. Only a little bit of rashes here and there. He has even hair growing on his skin now. So u can imagine how happy I am over his condition. The combined use of ointments and the special vacuum cleaner has helped. Incidentally, I recommended one of my friends the vacuum and it has also worked for his son who has severe ezcema.

However, the use of oral steroids has affected his growth even though he has stopped using it for months. He is 10 and he is only slightly taller than a 7 year old.

By the way, thanks for the concern from all of u.
