#163 agra red fort architectural shot.

#164 cow and men. they burn lots of stuff (not sure if that is organic rubbish or cow dung) on the streets to get some warmth in the cold winter
also makes me wonder if cows are kept to specific owners like dogs or roam around the street and was fed by everyone....

i suddenly realised this men i shot is the men who subsequently offered to ride us to the allahabad bank for kumbh mela, becos i took a photograph of the driver too later. they are the same person.... didn't realise till now.

#20 at streets near puja guesthouse, varanasi.

i particularly like this photo for the onion-like colors with the orange lights and the perspective that shows the undulating steps in the alleys. the wall are naturally "dodged and burned" in its original state, and no post processing is needed to give that effect

anyone can advise what does the indians call those flower rings and what are they meant for or symbolised? in what occasions are they used? are they used in everyday's life?

Those flowers ring are garlands called Mala in Hindi. It is mainly used in prayers some ladies wear it in hair as well. In Southern part of India, ladies daily use garlands in their hair.

:o Very nice series!

thanks. these garlands are a great element to help enhance the texture of many of my photographs. those flowers that i see in bali are not in rings, but often placed in little baskets, similarly help in photography, with their favorable colors.

#165 tight traffic at the outlet of varanasi (the main area does not allow these traffic as human crowd is already very crowded)

#166 squeezing in with joy....

#167 details isn't great becos of the haze, the filter and the high ISO used without tripod. but thankfully the relatively sharper and warm red of the fountain head in the front gives some details.

well, another cliche shot of taj mahal.

#168 another lovely shot of the chipmunk near taj mahal. over here, with some patience, it is not too difficult to get near them when the locals fed them with bread crumbs

#169 a tedious process of keeping the names and age of the passengers, probably useful for identification when accidents happened but i'm not sure how cost effective is this process.

however what strikes me is $DR. dun really like the idea of putting that $ sign next to a doctor.

#170 the expression of the infant in her mother's arm when a packet of crackers was given to them by one of my travel mate.

color reproduction is poor due to strong backlight and some glare.

#171 snapshot of a boy near dolphin restaurant, at varanasi

DSC_0098fafjw-1.jpg

#172 a snapshot from the train. a tent with a couple of children within and around, i see logs, i see metal containers for water, i see a bicycle for adult size, and i wonder if they are working there or living there, or both.....

#173 a towering figure, at the mughal tomb at allahabad.

Wow. Looks like this pic can submit to National Geography. Nice

did some shadow retrieval. so dun think nat geo would even consider. besides my low resolution picture looks ok online but dun look good on print.

#174 man in yellow are everywhere when we are at allahabad and varanasi. i suppose they are really sacred man although with all dressings and styles, it is really hard to tell apart from the colors.
