Delhi & Uttar Pradesh rejoiced (horizontal series)

maybe a frontal shot of him would create more impact. i am only assuming it is possible, but you know better if it is.

#182 some foreigners came up to meditate by the ganges at varanasi. i'm unsure if they are doing yoga or having other forms of belief, or if they are hindu followers.

somehow i start to wonder if the palette tone i created takes a step backward, or could i have done it in other way. it looks like the guy is sitting next to a billboard, and the depth is somehow not there.

actually, i always wonder why you avoid black and white all the time :bsmilie:

i thought this one worked well in that form; where he would really pop out from the background. but then again it could be your choice and preference for relatively low contrast pictures :dunno: :

a bit of space at the top would have been better too, just a slight shift of the frame, and it would not feel quite as tight

i can't quite rem except being on a boat. if i anticipate and can align handheld fast, may be ok, but i suspect i would be too slow and it may be misaligned or that the angle may be off by 10 degrees or so. i think it would look great if the vertical angle is steeper, shooting from below.

not really avoid, but dun have good vision for cropping and tones. and prefer colors as main subject. for me, if the picture is meant for the cover and butterfly inserts (think that is the term, but can't rem), then b/w, duotones or watermark might be used. have tried some b/w conversion, a little disappointed (maybe i can't foresee which pic has potential for b/w)

besides, gd job for the below. i like it.

true. but i think i will zoom out rather than frame up, cos i need to show the platform as a contextual element

..why are your picture sizes suddenly reduced? :dunno:

i started to feel my pics looks too big and hard to browse.

now too small, no details

the landscapes look fine to me, keep it at that size

your portraits are a tad too long for my puny laptop screen :bsmilie:

em. i thought pixels are all the same regardless of screen size, unless you change the resolution of the screen. but maybe i try an in between.

too long means face too compressed? in fact, it looks a little wide to me, although that is a 50mm x1.5 focal length.

no, i talking about landscape versus portrait framing (horizontal and vertical)

ic. dun really like standard portraits in vertical frame. they are unexplainably too conventional for me, like things seem all too right smack in the middle without sufficent space around. if frame higher then got too much space on the top. i'm fine with a square or a short vertical though. but anyway, becos i dun have a vert grip, i still tend to shoot hori, esp for such candids.

monkeys near meer ghat at varanasi.

DSC_0072fafjr.jpg

not the best composition, but the best capture of the most activities and expressions
among my shots. the baby monkey trying to bite and hold on to an stick held by
another monkey who is also holding a kite (that has fallen)

very nice. would like to see more of his face.

would love to join you for one of these trips.

that is part of the deal when u shot against backlight. even if i have the luxury of brightening up by photoshop, i still prefer the darker tones of his face, just enough for the features to be shown.

we are going ladakh and himachal pradesh this time. jun 5-19th. hop on if you like.

when the train stops at baryaram, between allahabad to varanasi.

DSC_0083fafjr-1.jpg

the light blue metallic wall of the cabin is highly reflective and overexposed to retain
the exposure for the figure, so in the end i darkened the wall totally since they cannot
be pushed back to any satisfactory midtone, and as a result, the following appearance.
