DAISO OFFER!!! EM1 with 12-40mm PRO!!! FREE BATTERY GRIP!!!

can track from korea to sg customs using SRE tracking. but locally still track via the korean link but not thru ta-q-bin bec the ta-q-bin number is not given.

the firmware ver i got was 1.1. manufacture date as shown on the box is jun 14.

Thanks falcon 1,

I have checked mine, it says:
18-Aug - Korea - item was shipped out
20-Aug - Korea - Shipment picked up

What's the difference between "item was shipped out" and "shipment picked up " ?

Looks like the item is still in Korea ?

Thanks

Shipped out I guess is packed and ready to send out from the store or the shop.

Pick up is collected by forwarder and arrange to send to carrier.

Thanks pchengws,

Looks like korea oso very inefficient, to collect an item oso take two to three days!

Hahaha

Thanks falcon 1,

Can check with you whether the Korean set that you got, was there any problem updating it to Ver 1.4 ?

Thank you...

Hi RyanKhoo

if in korea - picked up means by the courier to ship to SG. my delivery was quite fast - reach my place in 7 days upon order.

i hv no problem updating to the latest 1.4 fw. anyway the box, quick manuals, warranty card and menu screens are in english.

I don't think there will be any problems at all unless it's not made by Olympus ;)

In short , don't worry la.

Please take note guys. I got the below response from Olympus Singapore support team.

"Example: You purchase a camera from Korea and you brought it down to our service center and we will check through the camera and charge you for the repair cost. Please call our hot line if you have further enquire on the warranty claim at 1800 659 6787 "

So what's the actual warranty coverage? Seems to be having different answers.

I think it is important to know the context on which Olympus's reply was given to stlin's question. How was the exact question posed to Olympus ?

I would have thought that if it comes with an international warranty card and if are able to register or warranty with Olympus, that should be suffice ... but of course this is just my laymen opinion ... :dunno:

hmm, worth asking Olympus for a proper answer but I would like to read the exact question being asked. For example, Fujifilm's international warranty (similar to Olympus in territory coverage) works only if and only if the camera was bought from an authorized dealer overseas. What they do is they will take in the item, verify the authenticity and validity of the warranty with the overseas office before proceeding with the repairs.

Was quite impressed with the prompt respond from Olympus and contacted me over the phone to clarify the doubts. The last conversation we had was, as long as the SN of the set is identical to the printed serial number on the worldwide warranty card, the set is covered. For his understanding, Korea is not taking part in worldwide warranty.

The email conversation was too long to share here.

So for those all who have bought, I am sure the serial number printed on the worldwide warranty card must be the same as the one on the camera ... unless these are fake numbers on fake card ... if the numbers are fake, then wouldn't Olympus Singapore's computer system reject it you try to register online ?

Agreed to Ryan.

Thanks stlin.

So, if Olympus online website accepts the serial number that we key-in, should be ok (provided the number on the set oso is the same) ba ?

Key phrase: 'Korea is not taking part in worldwide warranty'.

Are the Qoo10 ones Korean market sets? This one someone probably can share.

But ya , best is to verify direct with Olympus SG coming to local coverage. I call them later in the day la , now at 6.13am , still closed lol.

I have out of sheer curiousity registered a parallel import X100 set on Fuji's website , I was allowed to do so and of course after that called Fuji up and told them about it.

Registering doesn't mean much as end of the day it's still producing the receipt and warranty card for verification that matters most to most service centers.

Not saying online registration is useless (Olympus still has the 12+3 months extended warranty for online registration) but just to point out that can't always assume can register online means all ok.

And to clarify a question asked before , the 12+3 only applies to camera bodies , kit lenses only ; not stand alone bought lenses.

Haha.. its never failed to amaze me when BnS seller like to post "Unfilled Warranty Card".

Daredevil123 had already took the efforts to post a sticky on all BnS sub threads that unfilled warranty cards are generally useless. Receipts matter most end of the day. Thanks for bringing this up again, good to share this knowledge.

hi,

Have called Olympus SG to set the record straight.

1. If the warranty card states Worldwide warranty, the camera set is covered. Olympus SG will honor the warranty in short. So breathe a bit easy for those
buying from Qoo10.

2. So when is it not covered?
(a) Korea market sets for example, a clear indication will be their warranty cards state: Limited Worldwide warranty etc
- buying from Qoo means that u won't ever know what card u r getting until the box arrives though.
(b) Parallel sets with no proper paper documentation which is common sense.

not wanting to be a dampener here, but I rather always take the cautious approach then tell pple go BBB then end up cry cry
cry. Need to be responsible for what we write here.

3. In general, my stand from my own experience is that Olympus SG will try their best to accommodate where possible.
