yes, the price looks good :)

Yah, hopefully it will drop to $1200+/- during Feb/Mar period.:bsmilie:

But if you really want the D90 badly enough, $100+ more than $1200 should not be a big obstacle right? Especially, when you can buy and enjoy it first.:)

Yah, of course. But I have been targeting to upgrade in Mar since some time ago, so my timeline is quite fixed, price is not the reason. But if the price settled down by then, it will be a bonus.:);)

Unfortunately, it looks like the Nikon users here in Singapore will not be able to test the D90 during the Singtel F1 night race on 26-28 Sept 2008.

This is the biggest event this year.

Well, one can attempt to cross the Causeway to get hold of one... :D

In other news, Digital Camera Resource review is up. ISO performance is really no joke, 1600 and still going strong! Even 3200 is considered usable!

Intel from Malaysia forum is that stocks will come in on 270908(Sat).

I don't think that Singapore Nikon users will get to use the D90 for the Singtel F1 night race.

The F1 will be held in Singapore but I believe that the D90 shots of the F1 night race will be mostly tourists from North America.

Canon 5D Mark II announced with 1080p HD Movie mode! :O
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0809/08091705canon_5dmarkII.asp
"The EOS 5D Mark II will record video up to 4GB per clip or a maximum continuous movie capture time of 29 minutes and 59 seconds, whichever comes first. Depending on the level of detail in the scene, a 4GB memory card can record approximately 12 minutes of video at full HD resolution or approximately 24 minutes in standard definition.1 Video clips are recorded in .MOV format using an MPEG-4 video compression and sound is recorded using linear PCM2 without compression. The new camera features an input terminal for external stereo microphones as well as a built-in monaural microphone for convenience. To help show off those fantastic movies as well as still photos, the EOS 5D Mark II camera includes an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) output to display crisp, clear images on a High-Definition TV."

Looks like those people in the AVS forums who bought a D90 must be kicking themselves.....Not to bash Canon, but the rest of the specs for this camera which cost 3 times as much as the D90 at USD$2699 is kinda dissapointing. Sure it's full frame, got 21 megapixels... but only 3.9fps continous shooting & only 9 AF points? I'd have the D700 any day please. :)

Hmm. I wonder what these Nikon shooters thinking when the EOS 3 and 1V had 45 points and the F5 and F100 had "only" 5?

Check out the ISO6400 shots too.

Actually, not really when you look at posts like this, this, this and this (all DVXUser.com threads). Looks like the cinematographers have their own perspectives as well over 24fps vs 30fps...

For 5D MkII, I am also wondering if the Full HD resolution is captured in fullframe sensor size (36mm width) or in APS C (24mm width) size. This will be results in different FOV when compared to the movie FF which is 24mm width.

They will just go.. "Awww.. now there's a format that's larger than Super35mm.." Who knows? Isn't bigger better? ;p That might redefine cinematography for good? ;p I'm sure National Geographic will be pleased. :) Does it suffer from a more terrible rolling shutter problem than the D90? The sample movies are mostly static.
