When will the waiting stop!!!.... :dunno:

hehehe... :D:bsmilie:

I sold my D80 in anticipation of the D90 but got tired of waiting and bought the D300 last Fri!

OHHH, I am actually considering between a D90 and D300! How much did you pay for D300?

Also, how does D90 compare with Canon's line? EOS 450D?

don't like to reveal actual price here but can say it's in the region of $2,000 for a Japan set. you can check out the price on the pricelist thread to have an an idea of the different prices from different shops.

as for the comparison, ortega has pointed to a good write-up. personally, i think the D90 is in a higher class than the 450D - it's more properly matched against the 40D at around the same price level. choosing between the D90 and the 40D will be tough and depends on which camera suits you better; for me the Nikons have the better ergonomics

If this is the case, it's roughly the same price when I bought my D80 body only more than 1 year ago. Cool!

Yeah! Thats good news. I thought that Nikon would increase the RRP due to the addition of dmovie. Thats a relief.:D

This would probably be my only DSLR for the coming years. Might not get D90 if my results are bad. Lol last resort is d40. Haiz

wooohoo!!
thanks for the info xtemujin!

Start study hard now. I don't get a nut when I was a student for being #1 in class, so do it for yourself, not the camera.:)

This price has been expected, the US is already selling at US$1000. :)

Haha yeah! Not for the camera, but for myself. The camera is just a reward. My father is also interested in photography, but his eyesight is not as good as when he was at his peak. So was thinking live view is a must. Might go over to canon for that :(

If you share with your father, I think D90 is easily justifiable, don't forget the high ISO noise capability. :)

Lol. To him whether we are getting a D90 or something else depends on my results.
BTW the low noise at high ISO is really amazing. Somehow i think that sensor might produce usable photos at an ISO of 12800. It could be that Nikon just would not allow the ameture level camera to surpass the semi-pro D300. Hmm...

No worries bro.

This begs the question, will there be enough D90 to supply the demand for those that are getting it for vacation during the end of the year school holidays or we'll be in the waiting game for the next batch.

True. But I hope that supply would not be that low. Might drive up the price:(.
But since in most areas round the world it is already launched, I think the supply would be enough for a small market like Singapore. Out of 4.5million people, only a handful of the entire population takes photography as a profession of hobby. Not to mention the smaller amount interested in purchasing the D90.

Well... I guess the next question to ask is, are Singapore prices usually cheaper or more expensive? :D Looking at S$1928, can we expect it to go for S$1899 RRP? Then perhaps shop will sell it slightly cheaper at around S$1800 to S$1850?

i heard..camera body or with kit lens..is always cheaper in M'sia.
while lenses and accesories are cheaper in S'pore...
is this the market???

that's the sad part. its either get it on the first day of launch with premium amount or get it few months later but risk the chance that it might go out of stock.
