We can put the price here, but not name the store.
Why would anyone participate if they don't know the special price?
I think we may not be able to negotiate the price, but can perhaps ask for more extras, e.g. battery, sd card.

Why don't you guys save money and wait for the D90 to settle down in terms of price and firmware first? :) I suspect it will be a very popular camera for hobbyists but will wait a while first for the initial excitement to settle and meanwhile just enjoy early adoptors photos :)

is it out in stores yet? i'm definately getting it.

It's because some of us have heavier camera and wants a lighter camera for the coming holidays. ;)

No mass sales or purchase here and no kopitiam talk in excess :nono:

I guess we need to discuss this thread under the table.

Can all the people interested in getting the D90 give me a PM. Lets work out the detail off the forum.

Thanks

went to john 3:16 again.. samuel got some info tt 6th oct nikon sg will start selling, so abt 7-8th oct he will have stocks..

he made an interesting point der for users upgrading from D60/D80

Price not much diff compared to D300-> ~1.9k for kit vs 2150 for D300 (cathay quoted 2330 b4 gst with grip. 8gb CF, bag)..
by the time d90 prices start to settle down, d300 price will drop...

and he continued on with his theory of gg FF (D700) when spending a little more can get sth tt is promising in the future.. :bsmilie:

Thanks Kero

Those are really useful info.

Assuming the initial price is $1.9K, that would mean it is actually selling at about 1.46*1.3K. (listed price in the state is $1.3K).

Take the price of D700 as a guide, One month after launch, it is selling at $3950 (1.31*3K). So maybe, one month after launch of D90, the D90 kit could be selling at 1.31*1.3K= $1.7K

Now the question is to wait or to buy?

Cheers

Will it be cheaper nearer X'mas?

If it is out by early october, judging by the mass appeal of this camera, it should clear stocks a few times by December. I'm sure there should be some Christmas sales going on and at the very least, get more interesting freebies. Also better to let others try out the new export batches to see if any problems like the D200. THis is a ground breaking camera, better to be safe than sorry. Let the price stabilise, no hurry. Maybe second hand also available by then?

don need wait, street price should be close to that already... $3950 for d700 is street price as well, RRP is still $4499

Really interesting. Looking forward to a D90. :)

Base on the internet reviews, it seems that D90 with the VR lens unless mounted on tripod seems very much too jittery for movie usage.
I wonder if in the future, there could be VR III, customised for movie function?

today just tried the D90, the ISO3200 is really good, retaining much details while keeping noise down.

Where did you try? Can pm me the details, I am thinking of getting it.

Thanks

yeah.. but i think it should be ok.. some video cams with like 10x zoom doesnt even have something equivilent to vr.. so it should be fine..

lol that iso 6400 is amazing.. and the price is really quite fair.. now need some lui!

meaning i can buy and use a 70-300mm vr in less than ideal conditions..

i tried at nikon japan, they have 2 sets to try out.:)

thanks. For one moment I thought it is available here. :)
