it's good to read the manual, that's what i did when i got my D90 too.. cos there r some functions and shortcuts that u'd miss out if u didn't read the manual properly

i have AfS version & love the color rendering of the lens..
took portraits photo with this lens ....and happy with the result....
but some ppl may not like it bc of too sharp...
haven't try AFD version.... so no expreience on thatversion ...:)

oic...this is a d90 thread so i presume u r using tat..

jus curious...y u didnt cosider buying the cheaper afd 1 before geting the afs?

yea.. a manual's useful for picking out stuff like functions u thought ur camera never had ;p

hello! i need some advice here.. since all of you, i assume, are very familiar with the D90.
i'm currently using the D60 but i thought of selling it and upgrading to the D90, but i've gotten feedback from some people that i should upgrade to D300 instead. my heart is on D90 though, any suggestions?

Looking at ur signature, you shd be a lady? D300 might be too heavy for u. D90 is a prosumer body whereas D300 is a pro body. They both offer the same pic quality imo. Main diff lies in the AF system being used (51 focus points vs 11). Rest aside being the ISO performance, build quality and pic controls selection, Active Dlighting options etc..

Upgrading form D60 to D300 is a big jump as you can shoot only in PSAM. For me, the only real benefits of D300 is the ergonomics and ease of navigation among diff dials.

I started with D90, upgraded to D300 (sold it after 4 mths) and jumped to FX as i dun really seen the diff in IQ between D90 and D300.

Now i re purchase D90 again, primarily for my wife usage and as a backup body..

i wil advise u follow ur heart... :)

Listen to your heart.

haha i guess u posting in the d90 user group would mean u are swaying towards buying a d90 more. well first of all, buying a d90 would save u cash to buy a better lens for ur camera. d90's lighter, but loses out on the fps (if u nid it, that is). but the only additional features of a d300s is its 51point focus and HD video which wins d90.

but yea... like wat the other forum-ers say... just buy whatever ur mind tells u to and u wun live to regret ;)

hey all, thanks for the advice. yes, i am indeed a lady and i need my camera mostly for the motorsports events that i cover. i was at the recent Formula Drift Malaysia last month and i realised my D60 + 55-200mm lens was not sufficient to get the panning shots that i want. the lowest i could go to was F3.2:(

yeah i am swaying towards D90 a lot more. as i'm still learning photography, i'm not very sure of how to work a DSLR fully so a D300 might be too advanced for me. next question, anyone has 'lobang' on where i can get a D90? Grin.

If you are getting it new, pretty much a look at the price guide guide you to the proper places. Prices are quite similar among the more reputable stores.

One more thing the D300 can do over the D90, is the ability to meter with older AiS lenses.

wow covering events hmmm, is budget a concern?

my advise is get a camera that feels great in your hands.

55-200 f/4-5.6 if you could go to F3.2 i think you are using a difference lens instead?

Or do you mean u want something at f3.2 :dunno:

yea try heading down to shops and hand-holding both models. then u will probably find out which body u're more comfortable with :)

IIRC, the sports mode will try to maximise the shutter speed as its main priority to capture the fast sports action. It does so at by maximising the aperture and/or increasing the ISO.

Anyway, its pretty hard to take sports photos in low light condition with a kit lens on a D90.

If the light condition is bad, try to pump up ur ISO to maybe 800 or 1600. With high ISO, u can increase the shutter speed to freeze subject. For D90, the image is still usable. Do try it out.

Thing is, to freeze motion in sports it is recommended to have a shutter speed of at least 1/200.

If light is really no good, ISO will not help you as well. Seriously speaking, if you are concerned with low light sports action, a 70-200/2.8 with a monopod as a bare minimum is a must have. My recommendation is to get the lens first and use it on your D60. You will see wonders. And in your case, I believe the lens matter a lot more than the camera body.

As he mention about using kitlens, so, the iso might help a lot for his condition. Of course, the 70-200 2.8 is a good choice but $$$.. Don't poison him ah.. :bsmilie:

Good thing for them!

Even if I read, I can hardly remember what I had read 5-10 pages earlier......:embrass:

Could I make the Image Number Series.
I couldn't find it on the menu's.
I shoot 500++ already, then cut the pictures, then the new picture got a filename starting to 0001 once again. can this be changed?
