The focusing speed is way too slow in LV mode. So unless I need to shoot very high or low, I never want to use the LV.

Anyway, I am getting old and developing presbyopia, thus looking at the screen is already not very comfortable now :dunno:

Don't say that leh, I am old too...

how much you gotten it for??... any freebies??..

Got it slightly under $1630, which is a whopping $120+ different from another shop directly opp SLR Revolution.

No frills set, which is something that I looking for becos I badly wanted a ScanDisk Ultra II card and no one is providing this card as a freebie. (I will probably discard the freebie given by the shop anyway). The savings from the camera goes into a nice 8GB SD card.

Whopee I just got my D90 body w grip at $$$$!

Wow that is a really good price! Do they sell lenses also? I'll remember to check them out the next time I am shopping for camera gear.

I am also a new D90 owner (less than 12 hours to be exact), very excited. I was using my friend's D40 and D80 before deciding to go with the D90. :)

Just a qn, the shop u guys mention do have 0% installment in cc? Tks

prob is cash px... cos NETS and CC installment would need to incur additional charges to the vendor..

what lens are u guys using? i am thinking whether to get body only or to get with kit lens...

my main purpose would be portraits and street... i am actually thinking of getting a 50mm 1.8 + 18-200mm... or should i just start with the 18-105?

is the 18-200mm a lot bigger than the 18-105mm? or just slightly longer?

The more important question is, do you often shoot in the 105-200mm range? If you do. get the 18-200. If you don't get the kit lens.

instead of 50mm 1.8, try 35mm 1.8 as prime lens. 35mm good for street and portrait, but cannot zoom.

For DX, 35mm is equivalent of 50mm on FX. Note that D90 is DX camera.

I am not really a fan of 18-105mm. Try get 18-70mm. Then u can pair with 70-200mm. that covers the whole range.

18-105mm is neither here nor there. If u interested in 18-105mm, got alot of second hand in B&S.

Actually I think the 18-105 is very good and versatile. 18-70 has the metal mount and the slightly larger aperture at the long end but loses VR. And if you notice, it is not THAT much faster. If you really want a big improvement, sell the 18-105 and get a Tamron 17-50/2.8, or better still, the Nikon 17-55/2.8 (if you can afford it).

Hi. Im new here and i got my first DSLR the amazing D90.

I bought mine from SLR Revolution at $1630 too. It didnt come with freebies but the money saved was enough for a 8GB Memory Card. They're having a promotion too. Add $11 and they throw in a Lowepro Rezo 190 AW which costs $146 in Challenger. I definitely recommend this store and i greatly want to unrecommend Alan Photo. F***ing lousy service to the max. If you go to SLR, ask for Jason. He's very patient and friendly. Even after i bought my camera and go back to ask him some questions, he would greet me with a friendly smile and doesnt mind me asking my ultra newbie questions.

They have 0% installment but there's a 3.5% administrative charge.

Eh, I thought Rezo 190AW is selling for around 55-65 at most stores.

getting the 50mm becos its a cheap option... haha... would love to get the 35mm if it would be priced cheaper...

i calculated that if i get brand new d90 with kit lens would be the same as getting a 19-105mm from B&S + new D90 body only...

if you cant get a zoom frm 105-200, just walk a few metres more haha

the 17-50 f2.8 with BIM should cost around $550(grey) to $650(local) . the VC or image stablisier or VR version costs $900+ ?

the d90 is indeed a wonderful camera. mine just reached 30k+ shots in 7months. woah.. time to send for some general servicing
