hi bro, money is not issue go for 35mm.....
for my experience, 50mm is a bit tight for some satuation.

Use your kit lens and look through it at both 35mm and 50mm. Best if you can use only both focal length to shoot to try out. Then you can be in a better position to decide.

Different users prefer one focal length over the other. Personally, 35mm is neither here nor there. I'd rather have 24mm and 50mm.

Thanks archboy! I just tried the 35mm 1.8 a while ago. Its a good lens, sharp! Planning to try the 50mm also, i've read some articles that 50mm is equivalent to 75mm on dx bodies thats why i want to check this out coz i want to do some street shots.

Budget - still thinking if i'll put out some cash for 35mm or go for 50mm which is price is right for 2nd hand. Got no deep pocket here bro hehe:D

Thanks again!

Thanks tkbonz! will take note of that. unfortunately ive got only the the body cause ive already sold my d5000 kit:sweat: mostly at some forums i saw that 50mm is a must have so i'll try the 50mm to see wether it suits for me or not.

for the 35mm its good prime lens! i liked it! maybe after testing the 50mm ill have my decision.

Thanks bro!

Well it depends alot on what you want to shoot. I actually find 35 neither here nor there like the above poster.. so I have 30mm and 58mm..

the wider 30mm is great for casual head and shoulder portraits indoors (2-5m working distance) but is a little too wide for street shooting portraits (need to get in close unless you want to include the surrounding)

58mm is too tight indoors, but great for outdoors when you have alot of working distance, in fact sometimes still abit wide! Try both ranges and you see which is more versatile for you!

Unless you really *want* the grip, a spare batt is more than sufficient instead of getting third party grips.. some users have not experienced problems but there are also other where their third party batts and grip screwed up their sets.. To be safe just go for the original.. as for the flash, search the price guide for prices.

hi viix.

thanks for the reply.. i guess i will be getting the Original Grip.

During comex, people bought their SB600 for 299$! with out purchase with purchase, is there any events coming up?

very tight buget XD

well, it's only +/- a few of tens from the price guide.. :dunno: no point waiting to save 20 bucks for another pc show next year.. if on a tight budget then lose the grip, the flash is more beneficial to your pictures than a grip.

DO you guys get the F-- error with the kit 18 - 105mm lens occasionally? I will then need to twist the lens abit and then it is back to normal

I got the F-- error and also --- error when I started playing with the A and S mode. I think I might have adjusted the aperture to the max or min and then manually turned the zoom to the opposite extreme.
I just switch off the camera and on again and the problem when away. I don't think mine has any slack between the lens and the body that I could twist like you have mentioned.

I have encounter that once but on a different lens and as i search at some forums i found this

"Solution to F-- Error in Nikon D90
Being the first-time owner of a decent DSLR, you may have or intend to only use the provided kit lens for all your shoot as long as its possible.
And perhaps, you have heard or are led to believe that interchanging lens frequently will only adulterate the cleanliness of the sensor.

But you may (like me) also encounter more of the dreaded "F--" error on the control panel when you switch the Nikon D90 on. Reason?
The CPU contact points are just too new and are not properly seated in contact with your CPU contact points on your kit lens.

Solution - Do manually unlock and lock your kit lens (without the need to remove the lens from the body entirely)
into position occasionally before each shoot. You only need to do this for a brief month or so as the sensor points
gets seasoned and responsive with a lens itself.

Cleaning the sensor points with a lint-free cloth on both the body and lens is also advisable. "

Hope this helps:D

Thanks

I think D90 should be pretty much the same as D80 in the AF department..

Hi Guys, thus anyone tried using 24-85 f2.8-f4 with D90??

Compared to my old D80, the D90 isn't not significantly faster in using the same lens, but it locks on faster, and does not hunt as much for the target.
