Guys, if I were to try to capture the sunrise, anything in particular on the setting that I need to look out for? I do not have any filter.

juz shoot as per normal. No need afraid of flare...
Minus ur EV unless needed.

Try 5 - 30 Secs timing. F8 - F13 Range. ISO 100 Max 200.
Use your new tripod!

I do not have any ND/GND filters either. I normally take out my UV filter when taking sunrise/sunset. Use a smaller aperture like f16 to drag the exposure. ISO try to keep at 200 i guess

Whatever you do, I think best to avoid "Vivid colours" - try standard or neutral...don't set your contrast too high... coz it's already a high contrast scene... Don't wait until sun goes too high...start shooting when you see sky getting lighter... shoot and shoot until the scene gets too bright and contrasty... by then - all the highlights will be overblown... not worth taking without filters (check your images)...

For D90...recommended to use ISO 200... the Lo modes are not recommended (artifacts will arise) this coming from one of the Nikon tech guys I spoke to.

Btw, don't be afraid to use Aperture mode... it's the recommended mode for Landscape.. If you can to go full Manual, go ahead - but chances of images going haywire is quite great if you're in experienced.

Try to bracket your shots.

And for gawd sakes, after your trip to TK, dun tell me you stinged on getting at least a Wireless remote (message for OGL...) LOL

Your composition, longer shutter speed if possible, and aperture between f8-f16. Off the VR of lens and use a shutter release cord if possible. For me landscapes I usually use f11-f16. LOL! Here I am talking like I'm a pro!!!:bsmilie:

So fast want to field test your tripod already?

For Manual mode can rely on metering for correct exposure. : D

i duno where he shooting ma.. if too bright reduce the compensation.. then at least not too overexposed since wan to drag exposure timing..

I see, thanks for clearing. Was a little puzzled haha

Best set to 0 EV first... then see if need to increase or decrease... it will depend on what colour mode you've set to... Vivid, tendency to require + EV... coz too contrasty...

he wan to test his tripod plus shutter cord..

O and another point, if not using a remote, set the shutter to self timer.
