If got problem .... just buy D800E .... so far there is no issue on D800e ...

Hi everyone, want to ask for some advise here.
I am right now using my 24-70 with the D800 and am thinking of getting a ultra/wide angle lens.
Am thinking whether I should get the 16-35 to match this setup or go with a prime.
I tend to like some flexibility which is why I am looking at the 16-35.
Going to Hong Kong next week so might want to get it while i am there.

If its me I will get a prime. Just because I will be using 24-70mm most of the time. Just use a prime for super wide stuff.

Reduce load too. But some good prime are quite heavy too.

Hi... need some help from D800 users, who upgraded from D700.. how's the comparison of AF performance, on both speed to lock and accuracy, between the 2? Thanks!

If I were you, I will get 16-35. I think you can save about $100 if you buy in HK. I'm assuming Singapore price is still $1.6k+.

I have a number of primes but they are underutilized compared to my zooms, like 14-24, 24-70 or even the 70-200. I found the advantage of ability to zoom outweighs the advantage of bigger aperture prime lens. I tend to sell off my prime after a while.

I happen to be going to Hk next weekend too. Enjoy your stay there!

The focus speed for D800 is decent. I cannot feel the difference between the speed of D800 from D700, D3 or even D4. Maybe I'm just too slow to detect their milliseconds difference in their focusing speed. What I can confirm is D800 can focus well in dimly lit area.

I checked with Harvey Norman at Funan and he quoted me the 16-35 at 1899 after discount.
So let's see how much is that in hong kong

I also have a 50mm f1.8 which I hardly use too...time to sell off

I just bought the lens in HK last week for around HK$9750. Probably 2% less if you do not use credit cards. So you could buy it for around the equivalent of S$1,550 in cash which is substantial savings from your Harvey Norman price

Taken with my brand new D800E and not-so-new Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G to check out its high ISO capability and ability to handle difficult lighting conditions like backlighting.
At last, I have a camera that could take highly useable high ISO images !
