Welcome to the club!

I've got a question. I had a D7000 for awhile. It's a second hand set. When i switch it on. The main LCD screen doesn't come on until i press the info button. But the smaller top LCD comes on when I switch it on, Is this normal? I use to own a d5100, everytime I switch it on. The main lcd screen comes on. Difference in the way both camera functions, hence the question.

You can set it to whether you want it to be switched on. However, I feel that changing settings via the top LCD is much faster, plus it saves power.

You can also push the on switch another time to turn on the LCD. On the manual, this is suggested for use in dark places. Take note that the top LCD will also b backlit from this action.

Tweak. I rmb you were at every d7k thread putting down d7k and promoting d700 while you owned a d7000. I thought you got deregistered? Could be due to the nature of your comments. I think if possible, please don't OT and promote your d700 at every d7k thread instead of discussing about d700.

try holding and shooting low light w D700, then you know how good is D7000

both cameras have their pros and cons, and it's up to who purchases which and how satisfied they r wif their cameras. there r also people with limited budget here n decided to go wif the d7000 for its price n performance it delivers. not every1 can be as rich as u to purchase a d7000 first, then the d700 and thinking of upgrading to d3s now within a course of less than half a year. furthermore this thread is for both d7000 owners and lovers. wad r u trying to gain by promoting d700 n dissing d7000 here?

hahaha just checking, what AUTO focus mode do you guys use your d7k? AFA, AFS, AFC? and 1,9,21 or 39 points? hahaha my old cam didnt have so many choices. now spoilt for choices!

I also upgrade from D7000 to D700... I must say each cam got its own pros and cons

Yosh~ I was wondering where you disappeared to

Hi all,

Very curious what do you all set in the set picture control setting for example during dinner and dance in a hotel ballroom?
Last time i used to set to standard but after using vivid, i like the output it turned out until a wedding dinner i attended last month where all things all heywire.

Do you all shoot in standard, neutral, portrait or vivid if shooting in a ballroom with an external flash?

i'd rather shoot in RAW and do post-processing later than to rely completely on the camera's picture control settings

I shoot in vivid mode also. Jpeg pic will turn out nicer.

Usually it will look nicer because it makes the colours "pop", however, the skin tone it produces is pretty horrible. Better switch to portrait or neutral for portrait shoots.

@Tweak d7k isn't bad at lowlight:).... Of coz it can't be compare to d700 but I was wondering it might be user problem?

Well.. I agree with u that can't compare d700 to d7000 if not why are there such a great different in price. I alway feel good to own a better gear but it doesn't mean I can take a better pic or I m a pro. If I suck all time even I use d3 I still suck all time. At the end of the it all depend on the person behide the viewfinder. Juz my personal point of view. Btw I m a d7000 user myself:)
