does the d7000 meter with ais lenses??

The D7000 looks very good, another nice one from Nikon. But I think I'll hold out for the D300s replacement which should be even better, since by D80 still serves me well enough.

my D80 is also serving me well at the moment
i waited 4 years already, one more won't hurt,
will decide when the D300s and D700 replacement cameras are out.

but i must say i am really tempted

Heehee...i just thought of all these business strategy thing.... , might not be true, just patching whatever info I can recall:

Canon is so worry that their lead in DSLR will be taken over by Nikon and feel threatening by the launch of D90 and D300 etc. They studied the trend and Nikon's strong points. Then we saw the launching of 40D (50D), 7D and now 60D. Note that the 60D's plastic body (Canon should have anticipated that Nikon will come out a successor of D90 with similar specs). Nikon knows that Canon will come out with few models just to counter attack, therefore came out with D7000, and at very least, launching D7000 with Magnesium Alloy body. Don't know what will happen to the 60D project team... :bsmilie:
(note that from these models we can see different strategies manipulated by each brand itself)

One thing I can't understand is that why Canon cannot just stick to their own style and strong points, instead of keep watching out every Nikon's movement... There is no point keep following behind its opponent and lost confidence. :nono:

I agree with the marketing strategy. But to me, everything start with the launch of 7D which top D300 slightly.
In order for nikon to gain the superiority in top Dx segment, they need something much more better, just like D300>50D.
But this will leave a big gap between D90 successor & D300 successor. So D90 successor (D7000) has to step up to bridge this gap. And I believe, soon we'll see a step up D5100 which close to 60D but not better. And for the very entry level, D3100 is already close to 550D, may be not better.

"Advanced Wireless Lighting supported with built-in flash, SB-900, SB-800, SB-700 or
SU-800 as commander and SB-900, SB-800, SB-700, SB-600 or SB-R200 as remotes"

Quoted from the product brochure. So yes. I don't think they will have a model higher than the D90 that doesn't have CLS (if the camera has a pop-up flash)

So, the built in flash cannot be used as a master commander for remote flashes as in D90???:embrass::embrass: If so, it is a downgrade!!!

i waited for quite a while for something to tempt me back

while the upgrade from d80 to d90 was good, it's really not much to shout out.

now comes d7K...this looks tempting...but i guess i will wait for a while longer to listen to the actual reviews from ppl...

lol...tat didn't stop me from temptin a friend who was lookin at d90 to wait n get this...so tat i can play with his while i decide...LoL

60D is around 1.5k in sg now... Any one has any idea how much with d7k be when it releases in sg?

Should be around the same price with the first released price of Nikon D90 2 years ago ...

It'll be great if the new D7000 includes a free Capture NX2 like the previous D300 promotion.

Wah... D7000 already very tempting... Throw in the NX2 promotion, inconcievably die-die must have...

It's time for me 2 upgrade my old reliable D70 to D7000... For those old timer still holding non AF lenses, this is a dream come true at a lower price as compare to D300s. ;)

Some function resemable of those F4 and F5.... looks cool.

I'll sure be getting it.

D70 - D70s - D80 - D90 - D7000

4th generations difference. D7000 is really a worthy upgrade.
I also feel happy for you :)

I don't know about everyone else... after less than half a year with D90, I felt D7000 is already a hefty jump for me even! :bsmilie:
