Oh? Did'nt know got showroom to view all the models. Will wait for the D7000 to arrive before visiting them.

Wonder if C and P brand got such showroom?

Not sure about P... but Canon showroom I've been there many times... It's outside GV Vivocity, opposite 7-11, you can't miss it. Canon showroom is more accessible since it's inside a popular mall. Nikon, a bit out of the way, but if you're really keen to feel all the equipments including top end lenses and accessories - it's there. Worth the trip.

Sony Showroom (one that I do know of) is at Orchard Central...displays most of the Sony range...not just DSLRs.

I actually "new" to digital cameras! Wonder if there's any diff with MIT and MIJ?

MIJ not necessary all MIJ. Most of the time, parts or sub assembly are made somewhere else. :)

C is at Vivocity. I dunno abt P.

Agreed, a big difference whether it's assembled in Jap or Made in Jap.

Seriously, I don't think all the MIT Nikon are any worst off than those MIJ ones. In fact, I find the build quality better than most brands.

C (= Canon) ? They have showroom in Vivo City, at opposite of GV theatre.

Just curious, I wonder if any of the semi-conductors / chips / wafers (I'm a layman, whatever you call it) in the DSLR bodies came from Singapore or even Korean?

Most are from Malaysia, Taiwan, China or even Vietnam/Philippines.

In other words, they are from all over...

Just look at Sony PnS... they can't even be bothered to mention where each model is produced... :bsmilie:

Yup, then things start to be globalised, it really doesn't matter where it comes from, just like what Nokia has started to do long time ago, it just states "Made by Nokia".

Most importantly is how good the support from these companies when the product fails.

My MIT Camry did not gave me a single problem for the past 2 years where my friend's Legacy keeps having issues here and there....

OK, coming back to this thread, as I mentioned, D7000 will be the hot seller again, just like D90....and I am sure all camera shops are now taking pre-orders as of now...now I only wonder how fast can Nikon produce them....

I won't rush to get it (even though I'm itching all over for the cure...)... Wait a while until the dust settles, and price stabilises... Gives me time to make funds for it anyway, since I'm considering not selling my D90 (a chance for my kid to start dabbling with it, whose butt has been itching from move away from his PnS...).

On the subject of D90... Somehow I'm not convinced that D9X lineage will continue... I think Nikon has streamlined the lower-end crop bodies with DXXXX series... making D9X stick would seem a bit out of whack... The strategy is probably to let remaining D90 stocks clear until the last production unit is sold off the shelves... Rather than let prices slide like crazy if "replacement" stance holds...

Yes, actually I am keen to see how D7000, K5 and A580 compares in IQ since they all uses the same sensor, and this sensor seems to be very well made for high ISO as can be seen from samples from D7000 and A55 recently.

I am also holding on to my horses (I know this D7000 is really tempting me to overspend again)...to see how the A750 is going to be before making the purchase.

But that also means D400 will be around the corner as well since I seems to observe Nikon and Sony are announcing their new products quite close to each other, esp those using the same sensors.

Good for these companies, good for camera shops....bad for our wallet...

As if they REALLY CARE for our wallets! :bsmilie: Caveat Emptor!! Observe all you want, it's your $$ anyway, nobody can force you to spend... But be careful not to miss out any important shooting opportunities during your life while you wait... ;)

Yes, I am still enjoying my cam everyday...

But u know, it's human nature, when a new gadget arrives, you can't help but wanting to get your hands on them, even though you may not need all the new features...;p

Not all the features.... but most!

1) All weather body... now I bring it to freezing cold / wet countries... (lesser worries)
2) 100 VF... no more guess work as in whether I'll capture any unwanted inclusions... (happens quite a few times)
3) AI-S lens adaptability... I can now start looking at classic manuals (built-like-tank lenses with CREAMY bokehs)...
4) Better high ISOs... I'd dare use it during dark nights with lesser worries, or for high-speed indoor shoots for lenses that are not well equiped with bigger apertures.
5) Higher FPS coupled with more AF points - heck, fast action photos here I come!

Oh I don't know... are they wants or needs? Which is which? Does one really need a DSLR to begin with? :dunno:

Edit: 6) shoot videos which you are still able to grab individual images... and AF with it in the meantime... Damn, I can serious not look at Digital camcorders from now onwards (unless I need to shoot REALLY long)... One less equipment to bring!

One really interesting and good feature is the dual SD card slot.

It can use as a backup mode to the main card, or store RAW/Movies files in a different card.

All DSLRs should be done this way.

Funny I never really thought of it much... But I think the more you shoot and maximise the body and its functions, the more you'll grow over it. I'd think it would greatly help for long day events, not having to worry about max-ing out the cards... Arm yourself with two 16 GBs... ;p Yummy!

Sorry i am new here but has Nikon Singapore announced when the D7000 will arrive? and around how much? Just bought my D90 at the COMEX 2 weeks ago..... the feeling sucks..

naturally, the feeling sucks, but i think you must have heard of all the good things about the d90 before buying it -- basically, it's a very solid camera and that doesn't change with the arrival of d7000. the reality is that every 1-2 years -- sometimes, months even -- new models (for that line/class) arrive, prices may go up and down, so the most important thing really is to master some of the fundamentals and not be distracted by new products.
