D7000 Discussion Thread III

I will try it your way later n tell everyone if it works.... at least someone is experiencing the same what i have with my D7000... thanks!

I encountered something similar with the lack of a "Tiak", until I changed the way i closed the cover. Initially, when I used my thumb which covered a larger area of the cover, there isn't any sound so I tend to push it a little harder to ensure it is closed. I found that if I close the cover using just one finger on the 2 little humps on either side the cover, I get a nice "TIAK" sound indicating it is closed.

Wow.. i didn't know my post (page 12) could stir such a fiery conversation.. whatever it is.. I think we must all know and understand (please try to) that every person has different perspectives on which specifications to look at when buying a camera.

In this world of ever-changing technology, all we look at is perfection and we tend to forget (maybe completely) what we really want from our camera. Yes, 1080p is good but do you really need it and how often are u going to use that feature on a DSLR? After all thats not a primary function of a DSLR. Likewise for any other feature that may not serve as a primary function.

I agree that d7k has a lot of features that outwit some big boys (looking plainly at specs) but eventually when you look at a picture that comes out of the camera straight, you must feel satisfied w/o doing much tweaking.. Just my humble opinion though.. I know a lot of people love to post process their photos and they don't mind how colours appear to them straight out of the box. But if you need to post process a lot for a picture to look good, wait isn't your camera supposed to do that? To make pics look good to your eye? Again my humble opinion! I'm not saying looking good means to add effects.. for that, photoshop is always there!

Yes photoshop is there for a reason.. to do minor corrections or to add effects.. but if a camera can't do its basic job (which is to take good pictures) then i would say something somewhere is wrong..

I believe a picture should appear clean, sharp and vibrant. Again, that's just me. I am actually contemplating with D300s and D7k.. and meanwhile wanted opinions of the new camera. I can wait for an upgrade of d300s.

Jackychua and all others, thanks for your inputs nevertheles! Peace to all! :) Hope future conversations dont take the wrong turn and everyone benefits from all inputs (whether + or -). I accept all inputs from all users :D

Regards

YES! Your way works! Using my thumb finger tip pull the opener just a little and push the cover down and "TIAK"!!!! ha ha...

practise make perfect! Cheers!

Oh yes, now that you mentioned it, I subconciously pressing on the humps too O_O

Actually I uses my thumb to press it (practice it just in case I need to change battery quickly), hopefully a picture or 2 (and possibly a video) tells a thousand story XD

I use my left thumb to press it down:

Well, actually not really left thumb but the bones between the joints

This is the position where I attempted to press down:

So this is what I get

PaulKami, thanks for those pictures.... that is exactly my problem with the cover!!! :embrass:

But after using k2entity's way of closing the cover, practised a few times, I can "TIAK" out of it!!! ;)

Ahaha... well, glad that you got your TIAK out of it XD

However, if you foresee that it'll hinder you in your future photoshoot, maybe you wanna bring down to NSC for a check

The main problem with the cover is BEST described from the last picture of yours...when you thought it is closed, it is not... but after "practising" closing it... I don't have such issue loh... just a bit "troublesome" to close D7000 battery cover, just not so care-free as my D70... Thanks! :)

is the battery able to pop out after you push the yellow batt latch sideways? my battery stays in same position, i need to dig abit to make it comes out.

It should pop out right away... are you using non-nikon battery? :what:

Yes, mine pops out right away. When you mean dig, you mean you press the latch further in?

yes original battery. after pressing the latch, i need to open the little rubber power connection cover at the side and give the battery a gentle tap...then it can pop out...troublesome.

if this is an QC issue, i'll be really disappointed at nikon. and in addition, who will spend 1 week to get this silly thing fix at nsc since most of us work til 5pm+ and thus have to wait til next wed/thurs.

I had this problem previously. I don't know what happened but now it seems OK.

Before, what I did was to give the battery a slight push after pressing the latch for it to pop out. You might want to give it a try.

try already but cannot. i need to use fingernails to dig it out, opening the small cover is the easiest.

Could be related to spring? (the spring that pushes out the battery)

Got to agree with you though, their opening hours is the same as our working time -_-;; Very inconvenient

There are extended hours on wed and thurs.
