But buying from HK will be cheaper in the sense of deducting tax? Hopefully i get to see it when im in HK end of the month.
just as long as you buy with your eyes open and you know what you don't get when you buy from HK
i buy camera bodies locally

Yeap got it. Minus the warranty as well. Thats the only down side i guess.

The pre-order price at Amazon.com for the D7000 body only is USD$1199. This converts to about $1600.

Canon is selling Canon 60D at about U$1099 so if we look at the positioning, I believe Nikon will keep the price gap constant here compare to US. Thus if they keep the U$100 difference from Canon 60D in Singapore, body should be at the lower end of U$1.5k. Well, hopefuly ! :-p

I am in the dilemma of wait or not to wait. I am making a holiday trip in Dec and ideally would like one to play with it before brining it oversea. Well, not even sure if it will arrive soon.

my best guess is

it would be commercial suicide for Nikon to miss the year end spending spree
so i would say wait a short while

Anybody can recall the trend, I am more interested in when will Nikon selling D7k with lot of free gift (compare to D90's trend). IIRC, D90 was sold with a lot of free gift (maybe early of this year) including Manfrotto tripod (ballhead?), camera bag and some other small gifts (and maybe buying SB-900 with discounted price). So, when D7k is launched, when is the time we can buy D7k with these free gift ?

I would not like to say that, but seems like D7k will be gone very soon when it reaches our shore end of this month...... :(

normally during a promotion period, eg xmas, cny, comex ... ...

of course it will disappear from the shelves very quickly, see who have fast hand and fast leg (not forgetting fast money)

still waiting in indonesia..

if you have a camera now, then you might want to wait for the price to settle before buying....
for those who sold their cameras and are "cameraless", then they have no choice :)

Will many people queuing in front of Nikon on the first day of D7000 arrival?
