I'll second that plus new release will always have a price somewhere to start from
I'm only waiting for more news and reviews for sb900

i have no doubt that nikon flash is always world leading...

unfortunately for me, i'm waiting for something that will require much more patience:

afs35/1.4
afs85/1.4
afs135/2

and the like... :sweat::sweat::sweat:

HK price for D700 is HKD22,800, assuming exchange rate of abt 5.7 (usually abt 5.73?), it's only SGD4000. Even at 5.74, it's only S$30 less, so not much difference in terms of exchange rate. I guess the actual retail price in HK will be about SGD3,600 vs abt SGD4,100 (i have assumed some discount by the retailers on the RRP).

SB900 is HKD3,980, so abt SGD700. Prob will retail about S$650 in HK and S$730 in SG.

which makes the current price drop of nikon lens locally something of a puzzle as many thought it was to match HK's prices.

The grey set of D3 in China is about 26000RMB around 5200SGD. The retail price for D700 is about 19899RMB to 19999RMB, around 3990-3999SGD. Hopefully, same as D300, D700 price will drop a lot after a few months. The aggressive estimation after 6-9 months would be 2999SGD? hahaha, I have a good day dream. Anyway, need to see the full frame camera price from other brand. More competition, better price.

yes, i think that's the key for more competitive pricing. currently without a peer to challenge, nikon can sell it at any price they wish.

Unfortunately the GST is here is killing the retailers competitiveness here, across the board :thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd: without any regards for the people at all

I don't think so :(
They carry D300 in megastore
did ask about D3 and they said too expensive to carry
plus the installment...
I guess all semi pro/pro models will not be available at Courts

GST is not enough to explain the price difference... about half a year ago i was quoted 1200$ for a 18-200, that is about 1120 before GST. I got the lens in HK for 900$...
the difference is way bigger than 7% GST
