I read frm some sources online that said Nikon will ship limited quantities beginning end March '04 and that the camera will be readily available come May/June. (thats kinda far-off... :sweat: ).

Whatever it is, I think that this is one of the most eagerly anticipated cameras of the year and will prolly sell by the loads (as the 300D had when it was released).

At $15 per colour-neg roll ($3 film + $3 dev + 25c per 4R print), that's
130 rolls, or 4700 shots (NB prints included)

At $10 per bulk-slide roll ($5 film + $5 dev), that's
200 rolls, or 7000 shots

At $3 per bulk-B+W roll (abt $2.70 + some chemicals), that's
670 rolls, or >22000 shots

That's purely from a "no. of shutter releases" point of view...

10k? Only? Ask someone here how many shots did he take in 6 months. Furthermore, unless you change or buy a new DSLR body every year, the DSLR can last for at least 2 years. By the second year, you're saving money already... :thumbsup:

was at cathay 2 days ago.... asked abt the pre oder and that guy serving me says the price is below $2K.

if you compare Malaysia Nikon list price at $3888, after conversion is ard $1750? but malaysia nikon list price is slightly higher than nikon singapore... maybe the body can hit ard $1600 here ? the Recommended retail price might be at the edge of $1.7? then the entire kit might hit just nicely at $2K.

just some thoughts.... if i'm wrong pls dun flame me.
