hi guys, the 12-24 is it fisheye? or is it just a super wide angle?
if its fisheye quite sucky leh i dun like fish eye effect....

i also hope the 18-70 sharpness is better than the canon's 18-58mm EF-S, which i found to be not so hot..... if so, there's a super strong factor for me going to N-SIDE....
Super WA. See a few pictures posted using the 12-24.

The 18-70 should be quite sharp. Most of the newer lenses perform quite well. Don't forget that the 18-70 can be used from D1 all the way up to D2H and not restricted to the D70 (unlike the EF-S lens).

2K with GST??? OMG and it's in AUD also!!

Aussie's electronics always much more expensive than in Singapore. :)

good price! :) my guess is that it'll be around $1.8K body only and around $2.3K with the 18-70 lens. A good deal for entry to DSLR world. Probably the 300D will be priced even lower (<$1.8K with kit lens) too, due to the weaker specs and lowered demand, giving consumers wider choices.

yes..that's my guess too ... about 1.8k to 1.9k....

let's wait and see...singapore prices are about 100 to 200 lower than japan's prices, for camera bodies (sometimes lenses too)...

So mpenza, what are you waiting for ? :nono:

you get it as a backup loh, then let me play ;p

I doubt I'll change. had a fair bit of investment liao in Canon equipment and after the initial "highness", decided that the increased buffer (main advantage of the D70 for my shooting style) does not warrant a change. The 300D with kit lens is also lighter too (camera+kit lens+flash is only ~1.2kg).

Good choice. No point wasting yet more money switching systems. (though the temptation to do so is there :D ) The D70 is very attractive to users using prosumer digicams (of any make) and who are looking to make the next step up to DSLR land. Good to see the fairly low pricing strategy from Nikon regarding the D70. More options & more attractive for users to switch over to DSLR in the coming months. :p

Don't think, just do it.

just do wat?
sell backside? :D
or jump ship? :D :D :D

only interested in nikon lenses lah...
although packed with features, D70 doesn't look that attractive for now, maybe D200 will...

if only there is an Nikkor adaptor for EF mount for now...:p

Well said  As CT made the remark last wed, the MOST APPROPRIATE and near-CORRECT point they said was that DSLRs are the next to rule.

I foresee Nikon and Canon fighting hard and whilst us consumers earn from it

If to jump ship must sell backside, then do both

it's just an estimate. usually the prices are a bit higher than what the exchange rate worked out to.

From the above link:
"While Canon has opted to make the EOS 300D essentially a cut-down version of Canon's EOS 10D, the D70 seems every bit as good as the Nikon D100. In fact, in some cases, it's better."

:D and

"What will probably seal the deal is knowing that you're almost getting an upgraded D100 for the approximate price of Canon's EOS 300D"

:D
