So how is the wu-1b better than eye-fi?

Well, I thought the WU-1b can control the D600 remotely. How can you do that with Eye-Fi?

I tot tats what the app is supposed to do, control and shoot remotely?

Exactly and that's why I wrote for me the WU-1b is more useful. :)

Did someone try the Sigma 50/1.4 in LV on the D600? I almost ordered it but before I released the button I read it can't auto focus in LV: http://youtu.be/FC3Z4tgBODM
Well, if true I guess it's a known issue...

Just tried my sigma 50mm on my d600 in LV. Works like a charm. Think maybe his is a defective set.

I read it depends on the serial number or more precisely when the lens got manufactured. People on flickr.com and dpreview.com reported the same problem. How old is yours? If it works with newer copies I might still buy it. How do you like it on the D600?

PS: I just read Sigma does re-chip affected copies for free, at least in Germany (but it should be the case anywhere).

Well, I don't know why there is a confusion. :) The WU-1b is for remote shooting (like the 6D) and file transfer with the Nikon WMU app and Eye-Fi cards are for file transfer only and don't work with the app mentioned. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The siggy works well on mine too before I sold it off, after acquiring the 50mm f1.8G.

May I ask why do you prefer the 1.8G?

U were saying the donger is better and i also daid eye-fi is better... Tats y im confused hahah.

That was a sarcastic comment because Eye-Fi doesn't offer any remote control. ;)

The main reason is because I am using zoom lenses more nowadays, so after I was convinced of the 50mm f1.8G, I sold off the Sigma and used the difference to fund for a flash. In addition, I also did a review of my pictures and I find that I almost don't shoot at aperture larger than f2.2 for a long long while.....the Sigma 50mm is definitely a good lens, one of the best I have and one of my all time favourite.

Share with you some samples, in case you are in the market for a 50mm lens. All are taken with the D600.

I did not buy this lens due to the shape of the bokeh with backlights. You can see a bit on the top right corner.

ISO 100 forgot the setting, can't find the file at this point..natural window light, indoor

ISO 200 f2.8 1/1250 gloomy day outdoor

End of the day, all 3 perform wonderfully on the D600. You will not go wrong with either. I just decided that all I needed was the 50mmf1.8G at this point and it has really served me very well so far. I am no longer a "bokehlicious" lover now as compared to when I first picked up photography, but I know many people are. If you fall into the category, the f1.4 might be the one for you.

Thanks for the summary! My concerns with the Sigma are the weight and that the 1.8G is sharper at f/1.8 than the Sigma... I don't really need f/1.4 but of course I like to have it. :) The Sigma costs twice as much as the 1.8G here in Japan.

Haha, for me one of the thing I like most about the Sigma is it's weight. It feels better balanced on the D600 than the f1.8G, solidly build. Now with the f1.8G, it feels kind of weird as it is too light weight for me....but the IQ really gives me a huge bang for the amount I paid for it. I don't pixel peep at pictures from both of them, but from what I see, any difference in sharpness is gonna be minute and only will affect you if you blow up to billboard size.

If you choosing the Sigma, why not wait till you are back and get it from BnS. It is selling for about $450 or less now I think. I never have problem with the Siggy when I had it, unlike what I have read all over the net with it's focusing issues....the D600 have got MA function so it should not worry you too much to get a used copy here.

sorry to interrupt, but has anyone had any problems with premature battery aging?

one of my original batteries, barely more than 1 month of use has aged by 1 bar.

does cathay entertain any exchange for such cases?

Yes me. Mine dropped 1 bar after 3 months, the older battery that I brought over from the D7000 is still at 0 (new) condition. Probably wanna bring to NSC and let them know the problem. Shop confirm will not entertain this problem past 1 week of purchase. Someone has also opened a thread on this issue, so I guess we are not alone :)
