Just sent in my D600 for sensor cleaning yesterday, i.e after the "announcement". Let's see if they will change any parts. ;-)

Lets hope for the best for u and all d600 owners. Nikon really shud do something meaningful to uphold their reputation. im keeping optimistic :)

Pls keep us updated here uncle meng!

I don't know whether Nikon is slow to act or avoiding a solution which could be costly to them.

New and better specs cameras are announced every few months from competitors, the life cycle of a camera gets shorter. I am not surprised if Nikon put priority on developing and rolling out new better specs cameras instead of diluting resources on a D600 which is coming to 6-month old.

Hopefully they will discontinue the D600 soon. ;)

from what i had observed, replacement models seems to be out in abt 2 yrs time.
nikon has been keeping to this cycle well...

They might as well release a modified version, say D600s. Without the dust/oil prob.and update the AF like D7100.

They should have had 51 point auto focus in the D600. The tiny 39 point AF was a big mistake...

That and more than three brackets for exposure. That's a simple feature that any semi-pro camera should have.

Has nothing to do with semi-pro or any of those bs categories, more bracketing options don't make the camera more expensive. Every camera should include it.

Exactly! It's a friggin' few lines of code, no hardware required.

My point being, if your shucking out $2500 for a camera, they shouldn't be playing silly feature games.

And giving it to all users would be easy and cheap too.

It's very kiasu not to!

Will update you guys when I collect my camera. I don't think they will replace any parts though. I hope I will get a pleasant surprise but I seriously doubt so ...

Actually i just send in my D600 on Monday for Thorough Clean.. I was told that they need 5 working days but i receive a call that i can collect yesterday.. When i collected my body they told me they change the shutter (its written on the service chic too).. =) but funny thing is that on my jpeg exif seems like shutter count did not reset.. so i'm also not sure..

Agree bro, more bracketing also for exposure. I can't think of any reason why a less expensive camera (D7100) can have a more advanced AF system than it's more expensive brother (D600).

Im not sure why the shutter count did not reset. Im not even sure if it is supposed to be reset as I've no prior experience with changing shutter.

But if the service report says shutter is changed, then u can be sure it is changed. Lets hope this solves ur problem!

Im not sure how the af performance of d7100. But i dun think its right to judge af just by no. of points

Why a reset? The shutter count is just part of the software. If they swap the mechanical shutter it doesn't reset the shutter count in the firmware.

It's the same than in the D800/E so of course it will be better.
